Newbie Needs Help Please

I recently inherited an estate of a musician. Among his many "toys" are 2 large, heavey black boxes. They have a faceplace with large letters saying 01/W Workstation and the word Korg beneath. They appear to have speakers in them. BUT according to the Korg techs, they don't make standalone speakers. Anybody have any idea was these are ? Thanks so much. Patti
