My WAV file samples are pretty quiet on the ESX-1

Post by jdmmade »

Hey there, I just needed help for a second, my .WAV files are a bit quiet on the ESX do I just need to raise the amplification of the sound file itself or do I need to raise it in the ESX, which leads to another question. When going to the init section to make a new pattern why do the drums samples sound so quiet compared to the factory drum patterns? Is there anyway to change that so that the sound is much louder?

Check to see if you have a recent version of the firmware on your ESX, the last two versions have this, so installing the latest version will enable this feature. The instructions should be available at Korg's site or here somewhere.

Its always a good ideo to boost your samples up to +12 Db....

the samples will be loud when you audition them, but turn the volume down on the boosted +12 DB samples when dropping them into a pattern, and you will be very happy with the results.

I have loaded alot the 808,909,and 707 sounds into the esx,all boosted to +12db and the results were excellent,im not a fan of normalisation....
