Saving songs to disc or an external hard drive from a D 12

I'm using a Korg D 12 and trying to save my project files either to a disk or to an external hard drive. When I try to backup1song to disc, the disc burns, but it won't read on the d12 or on a computer. And when I plug in a new external hard drive, it won't recognize it in my disk utility. Anybody have any idea how to get these files off of my D 12 and onto some other media?
