when i first got my esx-1 i swear i didn't hear this noise in it. cause the sound makes it basically unusable. when i turn the volume up past 9-10 oclock what sounds like radio interference starts up. this is with the tubes and input knobs all the way down.
should i take this unit in to get looked at or is this very normal? i read other threads about this but as i said i couldn't remember hearing the noise when i first got it a few weeks ago
ESX-1 has a really loud noise

You sure you mean 9-10 o'clock? That's only 1/4 volume!
I get a radio-fuzz-like sound on both my EMX and my ESX, but not until the volume is at about 60%-70%. This is a known issue with the tribes and you'll need to compensate by boosting the input gain wherever the signal is going.
I don't think it has anything to do with the tubes. Not sure what it is really

here's the noise when it hits 11 oclock - there is a mixer before it hits the computer on this so the actual volume level is different but you can hear the noise.
and then i turn it up to twelve oclock after a few seconds.
10 oclock is still slightly audible but as bad as 11 oclock
but still 11 oclock is where you have to set it to get a hot signal for recording. it'd be very difficult to set it lower and boost that later without still getting that noise.
