post ifx pan cc#8 control.. can I?

Post by rudolfck »

Hello, I guess it is not possible but I was looking for a way to control
post IFX panning with, say, the VJS. If vector control is assigned
to post IFX panning, all effects are panned simultaneously (same with
send 1 or 2).
I guess this is a global channel midi message. Is there a way to
control just one panning of an IFX besides going to the IFX page and
hit the pan button (and then use the value slider or rotary knob).
I mean, say with the VJS, Ribbon or the stick?

Any info would be appreciated.

These are channelized messages. In Combi and Sequencer modes, you can set the MIDI channel of each effect as desired, on the IFX 1-12 pages.

Note also that Post-IFX Pan only affects the last IFX in the chain.

Thank you Dan for the quick response.
Let me try this later on. So far, all I always got was
all panning happening simultaneously, all 12...

hello again (Dan?)

Post by rudolfck »

I have tried a few things and I must be dense: but
I see the midi channel part on the IFX1-12 page, so I can set it to some
channel, say #3. Now I go to vector control, find the settings that
says we'll send cc#8 (post effect pan), but I do not see how to send
this on channel #3. I checked and unchecked boxes, but either
no panning occurs or all effects pan at the same time. Is it tied in
with the midi channels of the timbres? I don't get it...
Can somebody give me an example please ? (some combi incolving
2 or more effects and various timbres), where with the VJS just one of the
(post) effect's panning is controlled. Id' like to know how to do that.

Ah, you're asking about Combi mode.

In Combi mode, the keyboard and controllers operate on the Global Channel. Only KARMA or external MIDI input can access timbres on other MIDI channels. One approach might be to put only the effect that you want to control on the Global channel, and assign all other effects to other channels.

For more information on Vector routing in Combi mode, see page 404 of the latest version of the Parameter Guide (OASYS_Param_Guide_v1_3_E5.pdf).
