I have a TrendNet TU2-ETG that I’ve had for a long time; it works flawlessly with my original Kronos to let me FTP into the hard drive.
With a Kronos 3, the same interface apparently does not work, although all the settings are the same. I keep getting a “connection refused” or “connection could not be established. Check username password etc.". Even though the green lights are on, and it finds the correct DHCP settings.
I know this interface is not part of the list of compatible interfaces that appears in the Kronos 2 manuals.
The Kronos 3 manuals no longer have a list and refer you to Korg’s website, where there is NO list.
I could try getting a TrendNE TU2-ET100 or the Apple USB-Ethernet adapter, I suppose…
Anyone have a Kronos 3 connected to a Network/FTP?

Re: Anyone have a Kronos 3 connected to a Network/FTP?
Hey, Stephen.
When you say original Kronos, are you being literal, i.e. the first Kronos before X and 2?
I have a K2, and getting the network adapter working took a couple of tries. It's been years so I don't remember the first one I tried (I think it was a TrendNet of some type because I've had good luck with their gear), but I'm pretty sure it was on the list but didn't work. I think I also tried a generic one that was supposed to be compatible with something on the list, but no joy. Eventually I bought a genuine Apple MC704ZM/A, and that worked without any trouble. My network is all Windows 10 computers.
If you need the list I could try to find it in my docs, but maybe the Apple I mentioned will work for you. If yours is older than the K2, hopefully there's not much difference between the 2 and the 3.
Let me know if I can help further.

Hi Chris,
Yep... the very first Kronos.
I'll try getting the Apple adapter.

Hi Stephen,
I remember when I had one of those adapters, depending on the year it was made, even for a given compatible model from the same manufacturer, one would work (older) or not (newer). At some point, I decided it would be easier to FTP connect directly, so I did that simple mod in my K2 using a short LAN cable with the male side in the MOBO's RJ-45 port and the female side hidden under the Korg after cutting a little square in the corner of the bottom wooden panel. Of course, since your K3 is still under warranty, you probably don't want to open it, not to mention there might not be a RJ-45 port on the "unknown" new MOBO.

If I hadn't finally gotten the Apple one to work I probably would have done the same. The connector compatibility seems to be flaky in the extreme.

I don't know much at all about network stuff, but I supposed back then that USB-Ethernet protocols changed with time, making more recent adapters incompatible with the Kronos' obsolete MOBO.
