Keybed of the 88 Key
does anybody know witch keybed is mounted in the 88-version?
(Fatar? and witch type?
(Fatar? and witch type?
88 key Ffatar
I spotted somewhere that it is the Fatar 40? But think there are 2 or 3 versions of that and not clear which.
Best regards

Its either the Fatar 400
But the 110 is more likely
The 400 is more aimed at piano authenticity
The new 110 is a trade of between realistic piano characteristics and still being able to play synth and organ to some extend.
Both are triple sensor solutions
The 40 would be a dissapointment, its Fatars low end action.. no triple sensor.. and quite old, to my knowledge. If there is a type 40 keybed in the 88 key, i will stick with the 76 key version
The 40 is the reason why Fatar 88 keybeds have such a bad reputation among piano players

I will suggest it is the TP40, simply by the weight.
If it was the TP 100/LR it would be lighter I'd think.
I have the SL88 Studio Controller and it has the TP 100 and it weighs a tad over 13kg. The SL88 Grand with the TP 40 comes in at just on 20kg
Korg PA5x 88 weight? A tad over 20kg - the SLs have a metal chassis and casing, not plastic, so based on all those I am suggesting it MAY be the TP 40.
Something Korg might not want to publicize due to the poor reception of the TP 40 ( I am sure the decision on keybed was made a couple of years back BEFORE the rep of the TP 40 grew. That is just my own speculation
Although, tbh, at the pricepoint of this, not sure why they didn't use their own RH3 from flagship Kronos.

Agreed - I wish my 4X, had the same feel as my Kronos.pax-eterna.1 wrote:Although, tbh, at the pricepoint of this, not sure why they didn't use their own RH3 from flagship Kronos.
Has anyone played the 76 key? I'm assuming it's the same keybed as the 4X. I'm considering ordering an 88 key just to get a better feeling keybed, but not so sure after reading current posts

Korg have used the same Fatar keybed since the PA1x - semi-weighted of course - and perhaps with minor mods from Fatar along the way.davekalbach wrote:Agreed - I wish my 4X, had the same feel as my Kronos.pax-eterna.1 wrote:Although, tbh, at the pricepoint of this, not sure why they didn't use their own RH3 from flagship Kronos.

Yep - I think the 88 will be much harder to sell unless this PA5x is viewed as a "workstation" like Fantom 0 etc...
PA4X-76, Karma, WaveDrum GE, Fantom 8 EX

You could be surprised how many people are in the market for a high level 88 key arranger, that functions as a stagepiano with all the loveley features of a totl arranger..karmathanever wrote:Yep - I think the 88 will be much harder to sell unless this PA5x is viewed as a "workstation" like Fantom 0 etc...
But to sell, it requires a high end 88 keybed..
As said the TP40 is not high end…. Its seen by many pianists as the worst 88 keybed on the market..
That leaves us with the brand new TP110, which is in high demand and probably the reason for the delay of the 88 key version
The TP400 is to heavy

Looking at the weights (as I wrote above) it just seems too heavy (weight of the PX5-88 ) to have the TP 100 L/R - perhaps the 110 is a contender, but I cannot see the release timing of the 110 would fit in with the current PA series release.
Decisions on keybeds would be made almost at product conception I'd have thought, not a last minute addition

What recent brands have used the TP40 and TP100?

There ISN'T a delay with the 88 key version.
Bonners sold out of theirs straight away on launch day and I got the last one.
It's in my music room now. Delivered this morning.
The keybed feels somewhat soft to me which I'm glad about.
No idea which one it is.
I traded in my Roland RD2000.
I hated that keybed and glad to see the back of it. The worst "weighted" keybed I have owned. Far too hard and nothing like a real piano which I have also. Just couldn't get to grips with the Roland at all. Disappointing.
Best weighted action I had in the past was on a Kawai CA67 which is very close to a real piano. But even then you could say it's too hard considering you'd want more glissando / organ playing options on an arranger and obviously considering weight limitations also, I reckon Korg have this right.
From initial touch (without sound) the Pa5X 88 feels like my old Yamaha S80 but less noisy / less bouncy. It will be fine for me I think. Will see how it holds up.

I probably should have started a new thread with this question.
Has anyone played the 61 or 76 key versions yet? If so, is the keybed the same as the Pa4X?
