Korg D888 Spdif

Hi guys, I bit confused and hope someone could help and explain.

In specs said that it have 1 x S/PDIF (optical, 24-bit), but what sample rate it able to provide?
Cause I'd like to use it mostly as mixer and expand rme babyface with line in channels. As I understand the sample rate should be the same as in Audio interface settings - 48000 in my case, does Korg's D888 Spdif is able to provide such?
