Ram... sorry!!

Post by dtscape »

Purchased some Komputer Bay 1gb pc2-6400 ddr2 800mhz non ecc ld unbuffered to upgrade my original Kronos...
Turned it in and it fails to load ... errors every time.
Can anyone suggest, with specific make and model,to which ram i can buy that'll work.
4gb please as you get that extra 0.25 of the 4gb(every bit counts)

Please someone help.
Thank you in advance

You don't get the extra .25GB.
I'd recommend getting it done by Korg despite the added cost, there have been lots of people who ended up with unstable performance over the years through DIY. I've built all of my last desktops but still had Korg do my Kronos.

the key is to buy quality RAM. Even I did a DIY. I also did the RAM upgrade for 3 friends a few yrs ago.

I am adverse to DIY's in general, but the extra ( not cheap brands) RAM was fairly simple to find /install IMO

I'm not sure "quality" is the only answer. Korg only supplies what they have tested extensively with the Kronos, and will cover you if there is a problem. Some folks get past boot but get mild instability. I agree it's really easy to install a stick of RAM. But with a machine like the Kronos, especially if you use it live, I really would rather not run any risk like that. YMMV of course.
