Korg "SUPERCHARGER" USB

Post by niddnet »

New Pa4X purchases (certainly in the UK) between October and Christmas (approx) can send proof of purchase to KORG and receive a free BRANDED Korg USB / SD card with various 'extras' on.

Has anyone received one yet - does anyone know what is on it?

I have just received confirmation that mine is shipping soon, so I'll be able to give a listing of what's on it at the very least.

I would imagine it'll be a few styles, sounds, and I did read somewhere that it will come with 'all very latest software versions'... we shall see!

Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays / Other appropriate festive greeting

Let's see if the hoopla is worth getting excited about. I would rather they work on fixing the Pa4x.

Bought my PA4X on 21st September, wouldn't be so bad if this giveaway was something you could buy as an accessory but to give something to new customers that no one else can get seems a bit off to me.

Is this an official KORG offer or just a local distributor thing?

Honestly, you're not missing too much.

I forgot to bring it into work to provide a file listing...

But...

You get an 8GB USB2 USB Stick which has been 'Korg' branded.

On there is a word document with a single page that tells you nothing about the content, and a bunch of styles, the 1.2.4 firmware, and the windows software - all latest versions, but nothing new.

The styles - from what I've seen, they're the ones which are available for free downloads - the old 'Technics' converted styles and some others.

What I will say is, having listened to some of the styles - they're VERY limited... maybe a single intro and ending, a single fill, and 2 patterns - mostly with very short durations - 2 - 4 bars - there's no real finesse to it - somewhat like the REAL old-days of keyboards with backing styles (I'm thinking like, 'domestic' Yammy PSR' etc.)

In terms of the physical USB, they're almost identical to the ones we buy in to send out catalogues etc, to our customers and stockists - but they have a KORG logo on them.

Nice enough for free - but I certainly would be upset had I paid for it... and I don't think they do justice to the marketing that's gone before it!!

I'll provide further info before Christmas!!

Thanks for the feedback on this.

So what are they really hoping to achieve with this SUPER-charger?

Look forward to your next post :D
