Pa900 how do I select a specific Bank in Krome via Midi

Post by Gnashetta »

Help please!

I have a Pa900 which I want to use (Midi OUT) to control a Korg Krome (Midi IN).

I want to be able to select a saved performance in the Pa900 bank which will automatically select a specific user bank (in Combi) which I have set up.

These need to change as I go through each song in the set.

For example If I choose [PIANO & ORGAN > Organ] on the Pa900 it brings up Bank D 016 on the Krome. However, I want to change this to another location. So what determines how the Pa tells the Krome which bank and location to use? And what do I do to change this?

In simple terms if possible.

Many thanks

Always use MIDI Implementation chart of both units you want to connect via Midi, to compare what kind of events you want to send and should be recognized.

The keyboard of Pa900 drives up four tracks via MIDI-Out (Upper1/2/3/Lower). Selecting/changing performances also send MSB/LSB/PrgChg for each of this Realtimetracks. Use different Midi-Out-Channels for this tracks and set them to "external" or "both" - so Midi-Out of Pa900 send Midi-Events MSB/LSB/PrgChg.

Pa900-Implementation-Chart:
MSB, LSB and PC are sent and received when MIDI Filters In and Out are set to Off in Global mode.
*
Pa900-Page "Track Controls: Mode": connect each track you want to external Midi-Device, so that tracks plays external instruments connected to Midi-Out. The connected device (Krome) must receive on the Midi-Channel associated with this tracks on Pa900. If a track is set to "external" it cannot play the internal sounds, so instead the the assigned Sound name, the <E> indicator is shown on a track’s
area in the Main page. This indicator means to be in External Mode (”E”) mode and continues with ControlChanges and ProgramChange. aaa.bbb.ccc is CC#0 (BankSelect MSB), CC#32 (LSB) and PC (programChange). This will let you know what the track is transmitting to Midi-Out. Here you enter Bank-Select and ProgramChange you need for Krome (separating the three
parts with a dot(.).
*
Now if you want to use KROME via Midi-Program-Changes connect Midi-Out of Pa900 with Midi-In of Krome, where Programs also are selectable via MIDI (described in Krome-Usermanual).
Krome-Implementation-Chart:
MSB, LSB and PC are transmitted/received when Global P1:MIDI Filter (Program Change, Aftertouch, Control Change, Exclusive) is enable, respectively.
*
PS: If you only need program-changes for Krome but do not want Note-Events of Pa900 sent to Krome, simple select "Note-event" in Midi-Out-Filter of Pa900.
kind regards

Thank you so much for the detailed help.

I'm still struggling despite reading both Pa900 and Krome manuals.

Can you trim it down a bit?

I want to use the pa900 to drive the Krome in COMBI mode.

Without doing anything (other than connecting a Midi cable Pa900 OUT to KROME IN I am getting all KB sounds other than the left hand split from the Pa900.

As a first step, perhaps I should concentrate on this.

Thanks for the detailed help (impressive)
