The case and the keybeed feel "fragile" to me... hope it can resist.

yes, i regularly use it for rehearsal and gigging and never had a problem. also buttons, slider and joystick are well-built and solid.

wow..........what a riddle- what to get : TR 61 or M50 61 - i'm thinking of getting one of those in extremely near future - a matter of days...i have already had TR but i had to sell it because of a Nord Electro 2 - now i miss my old TR and the main purpose to sell it was that i was looking for good organs and electric pianos..otherwise the synths on TR are GREAT - well pads at least....i really miss them.perhaps m50 could offer even deeper and more complex pads- i just don't know - i live in Bulgaria and here you can't find an M50 in a store to try it for yourself- you could only make an order which is kind of a risk. I'm really interested on these new M features and sounds - and now with os upgrades when M50 could read the extra M3 data - surely attractive.....

M50 is mush better than TR, new engine with exactly the same M3's ROM (256MB!), more FX for each sounds, drum track, new sounds... i would have no doubt. if you can afford it, go for the M50

Today I've had the opportunity to test TR and M50 side by side, with an headphone.
I like the TR keybed and the aftertouch, but the sound: the M50 is on another planet compared to the TR.

I can only back k.b. on this. Having had the X50 before getting the M50, I have to say sounds on the M50 are a quantum leap IMO (although I dearly miss some of the combis on the X50
)

Interesting topic I have been going back and forth between the M50 the Tr and the M3 any are an upgrade form my N364. One thing to look at if you use drum tracks is which one gives you a lot of them with options. Since they all have a lot of great sounds and wonderful combis the preset drum tracks are the next out of the box issue (to me).
I doubt I will take the time and effort to learn all the deeper functions of any of these keyboards so I look to compare the simple things that only take a touch or two on a button or touchscreen.
By the way this is a great forum people take the time to tell you things and appear to really know what they are talking about. Unlike the music store where they know little and are more into wanting to appear cool and have attitudes.

If you have the money for an M3, get it over the other two. It has all the benefits of the M50 over the TR (better sounds and more effects), all the benefits of the TR over the M50 (aftertouch and sampling), and features like Karma and a ribbon controller that neither of them have.

i own the tr88. it is a stout piece. the keyboard feels good. i wish it had a touch screen but we cant have it all. i have that and a karma. that is my rig and it serves me good. i have just recently gotten the karma but it has good synth sounds and great expandability. and up to 5 effects on it which i think trumps the m50.
also. no one has mentioned used gear. you can stretch your budget with used gear. a 61 key m3 can be had for 1200 bucks. or atleast that is as low as i have seen them.
but given the 3 choices here are my picks. m3. tr, m50. the m3 is a top shelf workstation. enough said about that. the tr is a workstation minus a touch screen and well built. the m50 may have the same sounds as the m3 but it seem different to me and it is built cheaply. to much plastic, awkward control setup and looks like they took an extreme and crossed it with a tr.
when in doubt there are sound modules that you can run with a midi controller.

I fully agree with kanthos - if money is not an issue, M3 would be the best choice. However, I'd always favor the M50 instead of the TR.

also. has anyone played an oasys. just curious. jordan rudess makes it do some bad ass things.
