The Extreme has a lot more smaller-sized multisamples, with the M3/M50 we moved into longer and more velocity-switching, but less different multisamples.

So, one could say, we were both right!

Anyway - I don't try to stifle dialog, nor do I argue with people's opinions in general. So all I wanted to do was point out that the statement "the Extreme has a larger ROM" was misleading.

So now we're all on the "same page", I'll go away and let the dialog continue.

Ok, do i get a free M50 now? Nah, thanks, M3 is better...

Triton Extreme:
"HI synthesis system=48kHz Sampling frequency, 160Mbyte PCM ROM, 962 multisamples+1, 1,175 drum samples."

M50:
"Tone Generator 256 Mbyte (when converted to 16-bit linear format),1,077 Multisamples, 1,609 Drum Samples"

Yes, the numbers show that, but I was digging a bit deeper. The number of multi-samples is larger because of the multiple velocity-switching we offer to make more of the sounds more expressive. So in the M3/M50 we provide better playing sounds that have a wider range of expression.

Nedim's point was that the total variety of different sounds is likely greater on the Extreme; at least for him (and others) there are certainly some sounds in the Extreme that are not found in the M3/M50, since the Extreme is a "greatest hits" of all our TRITON expansion boards.

As always, trying out a product and seeing which one covers your personal needs and tastes is always the best way to judge, not reading number on a spec sheet, or just listening to us "experts" on forums...

Yes Jerry, I know.
I was only showing something "objective", because many times it was simply written that M3/M50 has "less waves" in ROM, withous specifying the "truth" of this sentence, and saying implicitly that for this M3 is inferior to Triton. Thanks for specifying how the ROMs are different organized and designed.
And yes, the best is to choose the keyboard which best fits your needs: from this point of view, is not correct to say "Triton is superior to M3" or viceversa.

Well that is my whole point too cuz certain people are not interested in
numbers and statistics at all, they just hear it, thats all. Most of my customers
are exactly that, they will fight you if you tell them numbers, most of them
dont even know what ROM is. I had problems, sounds from the EXTREME wont
sounds the same on STUDIO cuz of missing WAVES and i had to sample cuz
they just WANTED them. Each comunity is different, the comunity i come from
is a type of musicians where they dont use not even a SINGLE factory sound
and i mean that literary and i dont understand, why buy a 2000 machine
for not using the features on it for what you've paid for. And thats what i did
with EXTREME, tried to bring the FACTORY INSTRUMENT closer to them and
they love it, now they love all TRITONs.

Well, I cant really find where to buy an extreme that would ship where I'm living so I'm trying to decide between the M50 or the Triton (or the Motif es ) I gave a link in the beginning of what I'd like a synth to be able to do.. What I need is lots of electronic sounds, pads (with lots of motion) and effects (and maybe a 'favourites' function or something for easy access of sounds for live performances, but I could find a way around that) be able to edit patches.. also the obvious Pianos, Strings and such stuff.. so.. I still dont know on what to decide

hmm... Anyone?

M50 is a good way to do what you ask for with a low price

also V-synth GT could be a good choice or a setup made by two different synth such as a Virus rack (B,C, Snow,TI) or a Blofeld or other for electronic sound and and a motif rack or kurtzweill for acoustic sounds

Nope. Doesn't work that way.

Midi is possible, but no other format.

How about made in China M50 - 61 's building quality? Could it's plastic panel stand a regular gigging?
