What are you talking about?

Summers2. There is no issue with this X. Its just things one needs to carry over from previous boards and the new one might have it a little different.
On another note now that Im feeling the keybed and really the whole unit, it reminds me of my Triton Classic and that Classic has been with me 11 years.

Me too! I've had it with Korg! Everytime they come out with a new workstation, it's the best damn synth on the market. How can people stand this insult everytime. What a way to treat its customers.

hammondcuni, what version is the OS? Is it 2.0.1?

Also, did a copy of the editor come on the discs? And is it a version 2 as well? I'm curious as to whether there is a new editor, or just the same editor perhaps recompiled to work with version 2 of the OS.

Could be wrong, been known to do that before. But I would think that as these units would have been in production for a while. Prob only OS 2.0. Which would explain the delay in getting the update posted. Oh please Korg release it, please!!!

I think Korg has been a stand up company and done a terrific job of caring for its customers. When unforeseen issues arose, they quickly and methodically assessed the issue and made remedies available.

I bought the Kronos because to my ear it had the best acoustic piano sound on the market, including dedicated DPs. I love the other sounds it has as well. It inspires me to play, create and simply enjoy making music more than I have at any other time in my life. My M3 had given me a taste of this, but the Kronos has taken me far beyond. Just today, my wife pointed out that I'm composing more than I have for years.

It's unfortunate that you have been scared off by the few issues that have arisen for a small subset of users.

Maybe I am wrong about Korg and the Kronos. Maybe the features are that much greater than all the other boards in the same category. And the sounds. So much better as to put up with the problems that seemingly Korg ignored. I can't see it, but I don't own one. I really was seriously considering buying one. Maybe at some point, I will.

I have owned three Korgs in the past(N364, Karma, M3)and liked all three(kept one more than eight years). All gave me no trouble.

I just can't understand what they are doing in regards to the Kronos. It doesn't seem right to me.

I am not a weirdo nor am I a troll. I am just a keyboard player who likes his boards and has limited funds to spend. I have to have value for money spent.

Thanks to all for the info made available on this forum.

I'm puzzled that you think Korg has ignored problems. I think the exact opposite is true. They have been quick - and careful - to address each problem as it arose.

The keybed gets the most attention. But think through what happened. Apparently, the rubber in *some* key switch strips didn't flex properly. Korg tested the situation, spec'ed new strips and made them available. Considering the process involved, I think the response was AMAZINGLY fast. Mind you, not click my complaint on the internet fast, but in manufacturing terms, very quick.

As I've said many times before, it's always risky to buy a new device when first intro'ed. But, we're a year in now. Rev 2 is out. Problems have been addressed. There's never been a better time to get a great instrument. I don't think you can more in one box for less (or the same!) money.

The majority of Kronos users are enjoying their keyboards. You post seems to suggest that we are enduring a multitude of headaches for a few great sounds. That's simply not the case.

Most of us are working musicians who need a reliable instrument and are not able to spend vast amounts of money. My Kronos has become my go-to instrument. I recommend it without hesitation.

The delay could be as 'simple' as while the v2 firmware is finished and work as a fresh install, i.e. KronosX, the program that does the upgrade isn't finished yet.

Korg needs to make sure that the upgrade doesn't corrupt an already up-and-running system.

I'm exited about the 2.0 but i'm having such a heavy gigging month that i only see myself changing O.S in September if it gets realeased meanwhile.
To the new owners, congrats, this is probably the best workstation you will be able to play for the next few years.

WARNING: Be prepared for many sleepless nights, once you start playing it's very hard to stop.

Ricardo

I will be joining the ranks of a Krons X 61 owner next week. I filed a complaint with store/dealer about the fan noise and one of the options they offered me was to upgrade (for a price) to an X model since I had only had it for a few days when the fan issue arose.

I was notified on Thursday that my X was in the store but due to my schedule I cannot get it until Monday. When I do, I'll be able to report in more on the S/N, fan noise, and any other questions that may come about.

I'm also eager to work with PCG tools tomorrow to save my current Korg settings and see if I can get them into the X easily. So tomorrow I read PCG Tools manual to learn how to do it before Monday.

That said, I have to say I am TRULY ENJOYING this board. It is an inspiration and once I got the rhythm of how to create Combi's, tweak settings and parameters etc., I had fun creating the sounds I need for different songs. I am still in my infancy of learning how to control it but it is SWEET!
