Hi everyone,
I recently bought a new Korg Kronos 3‑61 from an official retailer, and I’ve run into a strange issue when trying to use my microKEY 37 over USB.
When I connect the microKEY after powering up the Kronos, the instrument starts acting up: notes freeze, and after a few seconds I get a message saying, “Please turn off the keyboard, wait for 10 seconds, and turn it back on.”
If I connect the microKEY before powering on, the Kronos doesn’t finish loading—it just gets stuck during startup.
Here’s the weird part: with my older Kronos 2‑61, the same microKEY worked perfectly in both cases (plugged in before or after startup).
Has anyone experienced something similar or found a workaround? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Noam

Re: Kronos 3 + microKEY issue
Has the microKEY been re-configured at any time? If so, it might be worth trying to reset it to default (hold down Octave Down and Octave Up buttons, and power up the microKEY). Have you any other Korg MIDI devices to try, like the nanoPAD2?
I had something similar with the Kronos X, when connecting a Korg nanoPAD2 and Akai LPD8 together. Either device connected on its own was fine. If there are any other MIDI devices connected via USB, try disconnecting them.
If the above doesn't work, report the issue to Korg Support for your region.
I also found that the X-Y trackpad on the nanoPAD2 didn't seem to play nicely with the Kronos X.

Re: Kronos 3 + microKEY issue
The microKEY wasn't re-configured but i'll try to reset it to default as you suggest.
It actually still works well with my Kronos 2

Re: Kronos 3 + microKEY issue
The reduction in boot time on the Kronos 3 was achieved by a combination of hardware and software changes. It wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that something might have "broken" in doing so.
Contacting Korg support would be the way to go.
