Pa5X 76 keybed vs. Genos2?

Post by G »

Hi!

Since there are literally no places in the entire state to actually see any of these keyboards in person...

Can those "in the know" chime in and give their impressions of the keybeds in the Pa5X (76 key) vs the Genos2...?

Thank you very much!

I have the PA5X 73 and I also played the Genos 2 I really like the Genos better, but you can't base only on the keybed only.

Thanks for the reply!

From what I have been reading on the Internet - the Genos2 keybed has a lighter action than the Pa5X...

Is that what you would say as well...?

And yes, keybed feel is just one small part of the equation.

Thanks again!

I owned a TYROS4 for about 10 years and loved its keyboard. I suppose the GENOS has a similar quality keyboard.

The keys were of excellent quality, quiet, and provided a great feel. It wasn't light, but it wasn't heavy either.

For example, every time I played my old MODX 61, the keyboard felt very light and cheap compared to the TYROS4, and I decided to sell it.

When I changed to the PA5X, at first I found the PA5X keyboard heavier, a bit noisy, and different. I was afraid I would need some time to get used to it.

After about two months with the PA5X, I went back to playing my TYROS4 before selling it and, as had happened before, I found the TYROS keyboard very light compared to the PA5X and I concluded that I liked the PA5X keyboard much more, despite being a bit more noisy.

This is one of the reasons that makes me doubt whether I would use the Genos again.

The PA5X has its flaws, but overall, it seems far superior to the Genos in several aspects.

I went from a 4X73 to a G2. Action on the G2 seemed a bit lighter than the 4X. More importantly, found the keys on the G2 are slightly smaller than the Korg products. At first I thought this might be a good thing since I have relatively small hands but after 60 years of playing, found it difficult between keyboards. To be fair the difference is small but it was noticeable to me. Maybe this a a standard for Yamaha keyboards.

Once Korg issued v1.4 for the 5X, I sold the G2 and bought a 5X73. Very happy with the action and the decision overall.

Hope this helps.

hi I am confused as far as I am aware the PA 5x comes as 61 key 76 key or 88 key keyboard , I have other korg keyboards with 73 keys does this mean there is a 4th version of the PA5x I have never heard of ?

No, you are correct, it was my fault!

I got the Korg Pa5X arrangers (which have 76 keys) - mixed up with Korg's synthesizers, Kronos/Nautilus (which only have 73 keys).

I corrected it.

Thank you!

Yes! Genos 2 is lighter but again this is all a personal preference, now on the Korg's and I had most of them if not almost all, the best keybed that I played was the KORG PA3XLE and I don't understand why? they took away the sliders for this feature? who knows?
