Using an external midi controller with PA1000

Post by Ph4nt0m »

Dear friends ,
I am using the PA 1000 and deeply loving it . Thanks to this forum for the great advice before my purchase. Went a long way in dispelling my confusions.
I need a bit of guidance
Have been reading about the possibility of connecting an external midi controller with the Korg. I have a Novation Launchkey MK3 which I use with my Ableton Live. I am also aware that using the USB host on the Korg I can allow the Midi keyboard to work as an external midi controller.
Could anyone please help me regards to how to program the midi and what are the possibilities of using an external midi with the Korg .
If someone could even point me to some resources or just give.me a bit of guidance I would be very grateful. I can read it up but am not being able to comprehend how to program the midi on my Korg and what are the possible benefits. Like can I use the midi keyboard for some more keys down at the bottom octaves and all.
Thanks to everyone !!

Go to the Global > MIDI > MIDI IN Channels page. You can assign any part (Lower, Upper 1/2/3, or one of the other parts) to any MIDI channel. When you set your controller for a given channel, it will play the sound of the associated part. (Also, see manual page 899.)

Will keep updating this section and post a proper guide for connecting and to see what different ways we can use this just for the reference of anyone new to these things. It might help a lot of new users of the arranger series.
P.S : I just came to know of a 3 part DVD of "Korg PA Arranger secrets" which the forum members had created . If it was still being circulated it would have been great seeing as to how haphazard the information is all over the internet. I think it was a brilliant idea and a great initiative. It helped so many PA users in the past I think!!
