In case I have missed something, please then show how to assign "VAR-UP" to one of these pedals - thanks

This is why we need the EC5 - 2 footswitches is not enough!!! EC5 is perfect.korgpask wrote: Variation Up and Variation Down
footswitches (FSW).
these functions can be assigned to footswitches (FSW).
As the manual page "526 Controllers" states
Not everything is possible.
The instructions state exactly what can be assigned to the function:
CONTROL section (CTL)
ASSIGNABLE SWITCHES (ASW)
footswitches (FSW)
or to MIDI controllers.
If Korg decide to reintroduce the EC5 equivalent (USB I would imagine) with an OS update, then why not take a leaf out of Ketron's book and extend the EC5 concept further, with options equivalent to Ketron's offerings...karmathanever wrote:This is why we need the EC5 - 2 footswitches is not enough!!! Several functions do not have MIDI CC information and hence CANNOT be activated via a MIDI pedal - e.g. VAR-UP/DOWN
So, unless Korg update the OS to enable (configure) those functions as MIDI-controllable, PA5x is left with just 2 individual pedals.....
I would have thought that "removing the EC5" would have a replacement but like several other design issues, is not the case.
On my PA4x, I have 7 fully functioning pedals for anything I want them to do and I could still add a MIDI pedal for more MIDI functions.
EC5 functionality has served me extremely well for 18 years..... without question a backward step by Korg.
MIDI over USB is not new, it is used by DAW's to support instrument interface to computer. So I would presume that implementing CC messages etc., using MIDI over USB should be trivial for Korg. We have 3 USB ports on the Korg PA5X which can be put to good use rather than just use it for storage access.D575 wrote:If Korg decide to reintroduce the EC5 equivalent (USB I would imagine) with an OS update, then why not take a leaf out of Ketron's book and extend the EC5 concept further, with options equivalent to Ketron's offerings...karmathanever wrote:....korgpask wrote: .....

Make sense to me, and I am sure customers would welcome this...
I would jump at a EC13 Korg equivalent of Ketron's FS13...
To say i am missing the EC5 with PA5X is an understatement

Agreed, for Korg to provide a OS extension to reinstate EC5 functionality with a redesigned EC5 through USB should not be difficult..JagiChan wrote:MIDI over USB is not new, it is used by DAW's to support instrument interface to computer.
