Question for owners of both Pa5X & Nautilus
I’m hoping to get advice on my next purchase.
I currently own a Yamaha PSR-SX900 likely to get a Genos 2 because of familiarity.
Looking for a second keyboard for quality, variety and ease of presets to complement the Yamaha.
For those who own, or have experience with both the Pa5X and Nautilus, which would be the best for this purpose? Looking for quick changes on the fly and getting the best sound palette.
I realize the prices are wildly different and the Pa5X offers second arrangement possibilities. This is a once every 10 years investment so I’m not too concerned about the money in this scenario. Really looking at which can offers the most “out of the box” without too much work.
Thank you in advance. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Don't know what you are looking for. Yamaha YC or Nord Stage 4 are very quick to create something on the fly. Yamaha is half the cost of the Nord and is much easier to get parts for if it needs to get fixed. Keyboards are really a personal preference and need to tried out. One persons love is another's poison it seems.

Hi there, Nautilus is easy on the go, But, slow in many things, Like the BOOT time, how to handle Samples etc, Plus NO AT! After Touch.
You can find used one for under 1500 Euros.
YAMAHA SX 900 , That i also have here, Is an Fantastic unit,
After testing YAMAHA
KORG
KETRON and more, YAMAHA winns in how fast they are, and how much you can do with a KORG is another thing, When and IF the OS let,s you do your thing.
For now, there is many problems with PA5X, I hope they will fix it.
If you can, Wait for the GENOS 2.
I think it,s gonna be something really good.

Re: Question for owners of both Pa5X & Nautilus
Either one would do the job of giving you more sounds to access. I find the PA5x easier to use personally. Price wise the Nautilus is much less painful.TomChm wrote:I’m hoping to get advice on my next purchase.

Hello Asena, not sure what the fascination with the Genos2 is, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just more of the same. But the point I wanted to make most is what you said the about all these "problems" with the Pa5x and as if the Genos2 is going to be perfect and work miracles out of the box itself!!! If there is a Genos2, it will have all the bugs and problems as well, maybe some really bad ones seeing that theirs so many people crying to want one that Yamaha may be forced to push them out with a very incomplete OS because people can't wait !!!Asena wrote:

I say enjoy the Pa5x because I think it's a really amazing instrument. I also own a Genos and SX900, but I've paired up my Pa5x with a Ketron Event and both compliment each other so well.

YES I KNOW THAT

I think after all, we cant compare it, Since YAMAHA has never ever had this kind of problems can we?
NO,
YES i Still got mine, I love many things on it, And I miss many things too, like we all do.
Will they fix it? YES Sure, I think so, It,s a Huge company, They have reputation to save, And YES, even the Win os OSX have problems, But not at this level.
I,m waiting for it, And I Still Hope, Since i got other things to Play with

ASENA... Have you recently aquired the KETRON-EVENT ?
3 Questions for you............ i like the fact you speak your mind
with no sugar-coating, so please tell me...............
--------------
1: Has the LATENCY issue been resolved ?
2: Is the NAVIGATION SYSTEM easy to comprehend
__or is it "Anti-Methodical & Counter-Intuitive"?
3: What do you do if the EVENT Breaks Down ?

My question to add, "How do the FATAR Keybeds compare between EVENT and the PA5X improved version over PA4X" ?

Hello guys
I hope you all are doing great
First I wanna make one thing clear
I have all the brands,
Latest keyboard models soundcards usb midi controllers and much more always in my hand.
That’s because of my work.
So please don’t think I’m a millionaire
I own a bunch of instruments in my personal home studio.
I have the pa5x 76 and now the 88 hammer action
I have the Genos Pa4x , Kronos 2, The Nautilus and SX 900 from Yamaha
I work with music only, so some of the things belongs to me.
About the event,
To be honest, it’s an amazingly great sounding keyboard,
But that’s ends there.
Latency is fixed so far I know.
Sound pallet is Ketron. Reverbs and some more fx are from 1984.!
I think some of the piano’s was better in Sd models.
Guitars are ok, but Not even Close to what I have created for my KORG.
Basses are realistic since they are recorded from real musicians, same as the drums and percussions.
Synth pads are nothing wooow,
Leads are usual and nothing more.
Styles and audio phrases is very live, because of the recorded material.
Build quality is not what you expect from a keyboard that cost so much.
Ui I just hate it, in my opinion the best is still MEDELI AKX10.
Same when it comes to the screen, and on of button.
Not the best.
Also the sampler / Sound editor is nothing compared to the Korg.
Many Rom sounds are missing the articulation like frets and slides.
For Cho’s of anything you need to do 5 push minimum.
So yes it’s Ketron!
Best is to test all, if you guys have any time for it, in a music store/ KB dealer.
I noticed that the leds on new models of PA5x is changed or replaced( I’m not sure) but I just felt that way.
Keys= KORG is better imo.
Maybe just because of I’m a Korgy
For Me still korg is the winner in edit of sounds and FX.
It’s more open.
Best thing would be, if in the future they are going to have a new arranger workstation, ask us, the end user.
Don’t hide, don’t disappear
Have connection with the end user and never be afraid to ask for help.
In the end user is the best option for creating the best.
Conclusion of the topic,
Did I keep the event?
A- NO!
Reason= to expensive and to difficult in pages and more.
No good style creator or seq.
Fx are not what you expect from a kb in this price.
They could have been create better quality.
I’m
Still waiting for the update of my KORG, like many others.
Ketron is not bad if you just wanna halve fun and just piling
Plong out of the box, or getting their own ad ons!
Yamaha is great in UI quality and overall sounding, and of course good service.
Korg is (was) an amazing brand, still are the best in FX, edits, easy of use and NOW for the first time great sounding music creation studio for any use.
Studio , home , or stage!
My biggest problem is that, I’m to honest,
Like, why not giving 100% instead of 80 like Kirg did last time?
Well let’s see if they can give us 120 with the OS update.
Maybe even give the users a sound creation pc or Mac program.
Take care all
Best regards

You are all welcome,
I left the event back to work, but I can always test things you like to know about.
For now, I’m just waiting for a miracle from korg.
I think they are trying their best to make the os.
If , only IF they can fix all and put everything together, oooh man.

I was only comparing apples with apples. The Nord and the Yamaha YC are the same type of keyboard and therefore the comparison in price was appropriate.Well YES and NO

Or rather than a "miracle," then perhaps korg will start to manage their affairs and the PA5X debacle to redeem their damaged reputation. How they would do that.... I can only speculate.Asena wrote:
