I'll have to check when I next have a few moments in from of my PA700, but I'm pretty certain that it means that the SET folder (or the MP3 song file) is protected. This is intended to prevent accidentally editing or deleting the relevant files.

You should be able to protect/unprotected the songs by selecting them, and then using the page menu (down arrow, top right corner of the display) to select the action required.

Hope this helps? I'll try to remember to check my arranger later on to make sure I've remembered correctly!

Good luck & best wishes, Romney

Apologies. I've now checked my PA700, and I find that Song mode & MP3 files don't work in quite the way I expected/remembered. So please ignore my last post - certainly as far as MP3 files are concerned.

However, the red padlock symbol means that the MP3 file is read-only. I don't think there's any way to change that from the instrument itself. If it worries you, you'll have to use Media - USB to enable external access to the MP3 files from a PC or other computer, and then change the file to remove the read-only property....

BUT, you can select and play a read-only MP3 in Song mode quite happily as you have already discovered. I think the only problem you will encounter is if you want to delete (and possibly copy) the MP3 file using the Media tools on the instrument. So I think it's OK to ignore the red padlock unless you need to delete/copy/move the files to a new location (e.g. if you want to put your MP3 files into a different folder).

Hope that is rather more helpful than my last attempt!

Best wishes, Romney

Romney thank you for taking the time to investigate....
I appreciate it and now have a better sense of what the
RED lock icon is about.

stay safe

PS: I've just realised that while you cannot protect/unprotect an MP3 file from the Song Selection screen, you can do this from the Media - Copy or Media - Delete screens. Select the file(s) and then choose Protect or Unprotect from the Page menu as required.

You can't use Media - Load because that screen doesn't display MP3 files (which I think is because you can only "load" from a .SET folder.....)

Hope that helps! Enjoy..... 8)
