I converted sample to a program, but can't get it looping

Post by chrismeul »

I converted a bowed glass sample to a program, but can't get it looping holding down a key.

Before converting the samples to program, from the padsampler, I've set it to loop in the padsampler. (I've tried it with gate on and gate off.)
It then still loops in program (in the lowest keys).

When I 'import' it in a drumkit to spread it over the keyboard, holding down a key then results in a one loop sound, the sample stops when it's done. Also in a new program, that I've set to 'drums' and set to the new drumkit.
I've tried various paramaters without result, it feels like shooting in the dark ;-)

I need the sound to sustain/loop/hold on when keeping a key pressed and stop when I release it.
Is there someone around here who knows how to do this? Thank you already ....

Hi,

The fact that it does not loop in drumkit mode, I would say that is normal.

If I understand it correctly, your converted program from the padsampler does effectively loop, but only in the lowest keys. Right?

What happens on the higher keys? Does your sample play back at all?

Hello,

Thank you for your reaction.
To explain what I did, maybe the following links will help:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IPONg6l0oM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXb58yjSMVU
and there are more out there.

they show the procedure I've followed.
But it's not clear how to make the sounds loop.

I hope someone will know the golden tip.

Thanks again

Hi,

Both videos make use of importing samples into a user drumkit. Hence I'm afraid that looping won't work via that method. A drumkit plays a sample only once. Actually the second video mentions it at the start.
The only way around is to use long samples so that you don't need looping.

I'm not sure how they achieve looping of the samples just after conversion of padsamples into a program.

I've probably made some mistake somewhere in the process, although I still don't know where. Maybe the internal samples were converted wrongly....

I've checked out the process again with different samples (Audio in, import (44 and 48 kHz) and internally recorded samples)
And I've got them all looping on the keyboard in a program via drumkits :-)
So it works!!

Thanks for thinking along,
it helped me going on :-)

Hi,

Great that it works out!

So I was wrong about the looping of a sample in the drumkit setup. My apologies. The thing is I have the 1st gen of Kross. So no import of samples and at first sight no looping samples can be selected in the drumkit. :( Hence I could not really try it out.

I guess the important parameter in the padsampler are: loop on, gate off.

Enjoy!
