What do you mean, a lack of proper DAW integration?

Yes, you can use the proprietary, third-party editor via VST integration into your DAW to essentially do nothing more than send and receive MIDI. Or you can cut out the middle man and do it yourself.

Every hardware editor I have ever used, from Roland, Moog, DSI, Yamaha and Korg, have all been pretty rubbish when it comes to DAW integration. Cut your losses now and learn to work without them - you may be pleasantly surprised!

For Korg M50 plugin to work perfectly with the jBridge we need to do some tweaks on the Korg USB-MIDI Driver too, seen in the control panel.
(If Korg USB-MIDI driver is not installed, we need to install it first)

The changes I did:
- Checked, the "Supress device number in the port name of the first device" check box.
- Select "32 bit only" option in the MIDI IN dropdown.

Restart the PC and try now.

With these adjustments am able to use Korg M50 VST in my cubase 10 pro without any problem.

Is there much difference between Steinberg and iLok dongles ?

That's really a shame. I was seriously thinking about buying the latest version from Squest since I'm having trouble with Kronos editor 3.1.0.
I can see that a customer might tolerate draconian copy protection with a reasonable price, or maybe pay a higher price for a product with customer-friendly protection. I don't think there are too many that would go for draconian copy protection _and_ an excessively high upgrade price. They really don't put much value in the Kronos editor, given the tiny amount of discount for the "upgrade" compared to new purchase.

Hello Jim, you say "there's lots of smarter music software copy protections out there". When we went looking for protection we had three criteria. It needed to be cross platform, have a good history, and be affordable. We were able to find only one company that met those requirements and it was Pace. So, if we have missed "lots of smarter options", please let us know who they are and we'll seriously consider them.


To timg11, can you please explain to us what is "Draconian" about Sound Quest's implementation of Pace in MQ12? We've now had several months of shipping the software and apart from having to install an extra piece of software the system appears to be transparent. We aren't fielding tech support questions from customers experiencing problems with it. We sold Midi Quest for over 20 years without copy protection but, unfortunately, from what we have experienced over the last decade, this is no longer a viable option.

Why Kronos Editor is not available for Midi Quest One ?
At least for old Kronos owner ?

Korg provides a standalone version of Korg Editor.
Is it still the old version (32 bits) ?

Why the hate against iLOK? From what I understand, many many software programs and plug-ins use it, including very high-end ones.

It's just a form of copy protection.

Having an iLok trash a laptop motherboard during a live performance is reason #1, and keeping performance laptop off the internet is reason #2.

I don't know about ALL iLok based programs, but for the ones I own I can just use the PC based authorization instead of plugging the physical dongle. I only connect my workstation computer to the internet for downloading updates/upgrades.
