Cinematic Suite & Various Orchestral WavesArt Libraries

Post by Sam CA »

Just installed some of these WavesArt Kronos libraries yesterday. I can't really say much at the moment as it's quiet a complex library. Take a Harp combi for example. You have various controllers doing various articulations, and then velocity layers that trigger different types of glisses and so on. So if you want to make the most out of these libraries, you would need to spend some time learning the sounds...but it's nice to be able to play them in real time.

This is my first impression type of recording. Just messed around with a few combis.

Sam, the orchestra sample sounds terrific in your hands.

Are the combis programmed by Antony ?

Nice Sam as usual !
It's just the beginning of what you'll see from Sam , since I know the overall potentials of this complex Symphonic library !
He has only scratched the surface ...

Here's another orchestral demo featuring 4 orchestral, Cello Legato woodwind and percussion combis. That Cinematic KSC is like 6 combis in 1. Various Strings/Woodwind/Brass sounds and articulations can be combined or triggered with switches. At higher velocities more sounds appear in different registers. There's even a Harp Gliss available within the same combi which I didn't use in this demo. Cello Legato has different sound properties/articulations as well. You can do glides, Tremolo...etc....with switches and velocity.

Yes, very well played.

I think these samples are the most musical, playable and realistic for the Kronos.

In my opinion, that can be said for all of Anthony‘s libraries.

Thanks.

I agree. His libraries are developed/programmed with musical applications in mind and sound great as well.

Congrats Sam , fine as usual !

I want to point that this Cinematic library was made in Combis for one very important reason ...
to be played in real time and every specific Combi is capable to handle the whole composition you want
to create without the need of any playback , or change combination , for instance :
In this part of video https://youtu.be/dNEdMj9r5_c?t=183 I play in real time (without a single playback) a part of one
symphonic theme I've written and have performed in the past with 2 symphonic orchestras and as written in description
I use only Combi "Cinematic KSC 1/2 s1/-Y" for anything you hear there since different brass / strings /woodwinds
sections are selected via Karma scenes 1 & 2 plus SW1 , also velocity revealed timpani will frame your left hand's octaves
same happens with Symphonic Epic Choir video https://youtu.be/IXpKnAshzj8?t=44 (one film cover composition of mine)
where I perform the single Combi "Epic Choir-Horns-Strings" in real time without any playback , so the unique in this
library is that you can perform in real time Symphonic themes & compositions on stage without computer and sequencers
thing that can't be accomplished even with VST in such a variety of articulation.

This is what I'd like you to explore deeper and show your skills in one way to go real time performance !

Totally! Excluding Harp Gliss, I've done all that with the orchestral combi in the second demo. Additional voices cover different melodic ideas so there's so much you can do with one single combi for this application. Nonetheless, it's really nice to be able to bring different instruments and textures using a single combi. That's useful for any type of performance actually.

Part 3 features 2 orchestral Combis from WavesArt Cinematic Suite and 1 piano from Pianos Suite 2 Kronos EXs libraries. I did not layer any orchestral Combis/programs here. Everything is programmed within the Combi. The transition between combis is seamless. 'Cinematic Stacc SW2' combi is perfect for live performance and sketching. There's so much you could do with velocity without even touching switches and sliders.
