eq and freq. settings. PA700

Do you find that you can get by perfectly well turning off the master eq? and if you use it - could you possible share some thoughts on "Do's" and "Don'ts" when setting the gain and the freq levels, just some general logic.

I use the internal speakers in a smallish room by the way.
