Direct styles

Hi. Since loading os 2.0 I can't load any Direct styles. The option is greyed out. Help required please. Rob

Go to Global/Mode Preferences/Media/ click Browse and assign your Direct.SET

Thanks Antony. Does.this mean I have to do this each time I use a different memory stick?

Yes - your direct SET is purely a "location" for the PA4X to use so if you change the USB where your Direct SET resides then you will no longer access that SET.
Maybe load the SET onto your SD card.

Very happy now all when well and I am sorting Direct set. I had to load my Arabic set one by one

DIRECT style bank.
If the tool does not turn on within a few days DIRECT style banks are EMPTY. They are deleted !!!!!
Big mistake !

Direct function saves only information of address (link) of a SET.ALL that is valid , in Global file whenever Global file
is saved in a SET or this information remains every time you boot your Pa4X !
- Pa4X saves all modifications that you will execute pointing to assigned Direct.SET and never deletes a SET by itself
only if you do it manually !
- When Pa4X turns on , it checks Direct.SET link and if this SET was assigned from an external media source that is
disconnected (USB/mSD) then link information will be lost until you re-boot your Pa4X with this media connected !
- That's why you have to collect all Direct.SETs you use and place them in a HD folder (or in mSD that you will not eject)
that will be permanately there when Pa4X is turned on , else you have to browse for your Direct SET everytime you boot your arranger.

I only use the direct banks for testing new things...

If there is something i really like, i copy it to favorites...

I think this is also how use of the direct banks was intended by Korg.

Great use for Direct Bachus

I used mine immediately to reference my last "working" SET from my PA3X so basically my band could immediately carry on from my PA3X days - saved me hours initially.
Gradually I have "moved" everything into "PA4X territory"

TESTdirect style bank .:
Set up the DIRECT style folder.
Turn off the tool. Leave it off for 5 days.
Then turn on the tool and DIRECT STYLE Banks will be empty !!!!
Favorite style banks will be OK
Direct style banks will be empty.
Then you must repeat the direct folder selection.

I turned on the tool on the stage and the DIRECT Bank styles were empty. were not

My DIRECT style bank is in a KORG disk. No Korg HDD but Korg disk (approx 1GB Korg memory)
When backing up SAVE ALL - the DIRECT STYLE folder - style bank does not back up!
SET backup includes factory style and favorite style (DIRECT style - NO!), Fact.performance, voice user, max audio, global, PAD fact + user, PCM data ....
But direct style bank NOT.

1) Direct set location information is indeed saved in 'Global' file , everyone can test it , Direct.SET(s) certainly not , this is commonly known !
2) I have also saved Direct SETs in internal 1Gb flash memory of pa4X and direct location information will be there as far as board
3v lithioum battery is in good state (for some years obviously) and will preserve this "Global" information among some others.
3) Direct set is a cool function for end-users to make fun and test extra factory based resources , but it's also a powerfull tool for demanding
performers that doubles the number of custom Styles & KBD sets with different setting from Pa4X internal resources when it contains extra
Global information and surely an essential asset for commercial resources of Pa4X sound developers !
