Songbook entries & master transpose

Post by pmaggie »

Hi everybody, I have a problem with songbook and master transpose: I would like to automatically set a predefined master transpose as soon as I recall a songbook entry. The manual says:

"Song’s Master Transpose value. When the Entry is selected, the Master
Transpose of the whole instrument is automatically changed. The Master
Transpose value saved in the SongBook Entry overrides any Master
Transpose setting contained in the associated resource.
You can manually change this value by using the TRANSPOSE buttons on the
control panel. Any change will only be shown after saving the Entry."

First of all, if I'm not wrong there's no way to set this parameter in the database page 2, you have to use the master transpose keys. Second, once I set the mt, the songbook page 2 actually shows the setting but it does not change the mt once the entry is recalled.
What I do is:
1) Recall the entry
2) Go to page 2 of the database settings
3) Set the mt to the desired value
4) Save the entry
At this point, if I check the enrty the correct mt value is displayed in page 2 but if I recall this very entry (e.g. after the switch on of the keyboard), the value in the book2 page is correctly displayed but the keyboard mt remains to 0.
What am I please doing wrong?

Thanks a lot!!

I think this is one of the changes for OS 1.2 that was listed with the upgrade. That manual entry has been superseded.

Thank you for your answers.
@Bernie: I don't know, I have to check but I don't think so because if I use the transpose keys they work normally.
@Taletdk: I tried but it does not work. You can read the setting in Sbook page 2 but selecting the entry does not actually modify the mt.
@mstodola: sorry but I think I did not understand: you mean it's no longer possible to use this feature?

Thanks a lot!

This is what I do frequently - works fine:-

Select Songbook entry
Change transpose
Hold down Songbook button for about 2-3 seconds
Write Songbook entry (overwrite)

It turned out I couldn't "SAVE" my transposed song to the new key because I hadn't noticed the Global lock was on.

Sorry, I didn't understand the issue. On page 3 of the 1.2.4 update notes it says: "Master Transpose no longer saved with Keyboard Sets and Styles". It is now a Global function. I didn't know it was a song being saved.
