Help with songbook

Post by Jo Martins »

Hi Everybody,
First of all, please excuse my poor english but I appreciate some help here.

I'm a new owner of a Pa4X (Yeah!). I already loaded all the styles I used in my previous Pa3X, also loaded my SongBook lists. So far, so good...
I realized that there's a new styles and sound organization, my soongbook entries/modifications or programming, no longer works (just tempo, transposing and some parameters), putting different styles than I choose previously. OK, still no big deal.
The problem:
When I choose a new style (or different that the one programmed) the Pa4X creates automatically a New Song, clearing anything in the song I'm trying to modify.
Is there a way to simple choose a style leaving all the other parameters intact?

Also,
I recorded a Chord sequence, as far as I know, I can save it to a song in the songbook but didn't find a way to it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the Help!

Best Regards,

I think this is what you are looking for... Pg 103 of the Quick Start Manual "Choosing the Songbook Entries From the Book list"
I give a quick summary...
Open Songbook, browse through to the entry you want, and then TOUCH the entry to select (my caps)
After choosing the Entry, it's name will appear just under the title bar .. and will be assigned to Player 1

I hope this is correct and helps you.

Hopefully by the end of the day, I'll be able to do this on my PA4X (thanks FedEx)

This issue was discussed here few times.
When you recall an old songbook entry, lock all essential paremeters (tempo, fill mode ect) choose appropriate style which had been used in korg pa3x
and then save settins with the same name as previous one. Korg pa4x will ask you if you want to overwrite. Click Yes.
Above operations must be repeated for all songbook settings based on factory styles you had used to utilized.

Hi pawlikp100,

That's exactly what I do in the Pa3X.

The thing is that in the Pa4X, the imported list contains all the parameters correct minus the the proper style. When I choose a new style, the Pa4X automatically creates a new song, erasing all previous parameters. Seems like the Songbook have any lock somewhere but can't find which or where it is.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with migration Songbook data from pa3x to pa4x as you and method that had been described by me above is the only reasonable I know.
Unfortunately there is no lock which keeps all essential for you songbook parameters.

Hi,

that´s quite normal, because the "internal organisation" of the PA4X is very different from the one used in the PA3X.

Other Styles, StyleNumbers, Sounds, SoundNumbers, Effects and so on.

BUT : Korg promised us ( in Germany ) to build a conversation-tool to convert PA3 in PA4 Songbooks.

That was in the end of 2015 ( fifteen ! )

Nothing new heard so far...

I was ready to buy the PA4X, then I was told that I had to do my PA3X songbook over again. I have put so much work into my own songbook with hundred of entries all of them with edited drum parts, sounds, effect, etc. I don't think I can do it over again. It take so much time, and where do buy time?? I will just wait and see what happens :(

Hi,

in general:

If I want to buy a new keyboard I want to use it´s new features ( sounds, styles, effects... ). Otherwise I could keep my old one ( except it´s not working anymore ).

If these new features would have been in the old one there wouldn´t be the need to buy a new one.

If I want to use the new features I´ll have to program the songbook etc. accordingly.

And, yes, that might be a lot of work ;)
