Hello All
When using an external sound source after assigning all your midi channels.
You go to STYLE PLAY mode, select a style go to STYLE CONTROLS and select what parts of the style would be coming from an external sound source DRUMS/BASS/ACC etc. If your in STYLE RECORD mode you will not be able to hear the sounds coming from an outside source? however when you play the style in STYLE PLAY you can hear the external sounds playing instead of the internal?
I did this on the PA3X and it works, is this a PA4X midi issue?

I ran into a similar problem when using an external module for the Bass part, so this may help... : )
[Note: Be sure that External or Both is selected in the Menu > Track Controls for the channel(s) you wish to use in both the Style Play and Sequencer modes.]
When I'm in Style Play mode:
Global > Midi > Midi Out Channel > Ch09 > Bass
When I'm in Backing Sequence (Quick Record) mode:
Global > Midi > Midi Out Channel > Ch09 > Ply.1 Tr 09
I also set the following MIDI filters to avoid unexpected changes:
Global > Midi > Filters > Midi Out
Sys. Exclusive
Prg. Change
0 Bank Sel.
All Ctrl. Ch.
Be sure to save the MIDI settings (top-right drop down menu), or they will be lost the next time you power on. [I made two separate settings, one for Style Play, and one for the Sequencer.]
As a side note, I set my module to accept ALL MIDI channels.

Hello
thanks for the reply.
You're absolutely right I already did what you mentioned. However
after assigning your MIDI settings and saving them. Go to RECORD A STYLE set your DRUM OR BASS or any part that you want to be used from an external sound source, SELECT EXTERNAL. GO TO RECORD RECORD A PATTERN, WRITE THE STYLE go to STYLE PLAY, everything will be fine. Now go back to RECORD STYLE and you will not be able to hear the external parts in record mode?
I know if I set it to BOTH INSTEAD OF EXTERNAL I will hear the module and the internal at the same time, but I can't record of play that way lol
Any input would be appreciate it .
Thanks

When you go back to RECORD STYLE mode, have you tried turning your module off and on again? If that works, then an unfiltered MIDI message may be deactivating your module in some manner when you go from STYLE PLAY to RECORD STYLE.
Another thing you may want to try is once you go back to RECORD STYLE mode, try resetting the MIDI settings (pick some random setting for the channel(s) then put it back to the proper setting again). If that works, than maybe a MIDI bug where the settings are not getting recalled when you switch modes.
