Christmas Styles

Post by Bernie9 »

I am playing a three day Christmas In July gig next month, and need some Christmas styles. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Cool, so I'm not the only one who's already working on Christmas Carols! Sorry I don't use Styles for these songs, but I remember some users have posted some in the past. Do a search and you might find some.

I have some - can't remember how good/bad they are - I'll get them on G-drive and post a link.

PLEASE REMIND ME in a couple of days if I haven't done it (a bit overloaded right now)

Bernie9,

I'd certainly give you Christmas styles if I had them, but the last time I did a Christmas album it was with my brand new Korg T1.

I think that was before styles were invented!

Just curious here, but what exactly is a Christmas style? Is it defined by lots of tinkly sounds? Are the styles song specific?

We do half a dozen or so Christmas songs, but I just use stock styles - mainly in the big band/swing/ballroom genres - fairly traditional stuff. For example, for Mary's Boy Child I use Last Rhumba, changing up and back through the variations, etc.

Pete
What a surprise to see the great artwork and styles. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule. I have gotten them to the HD of my PA4x, and will have a go when I have a chance.

Giner:

Christmas styles is a very broad term, and can be anything from song specific styles to generic ones. Many have the Christmas sounds like chimes and sleigh bells, etc. Since I am doing a three day gig, I might do 25% Christmas, and the rest a party type mix of genre.

I use styles, midi, and CD&G, but mostly play and/or sing over any sequences.

Thanks, Bernie. That's pretty much the way I do it now. Maybe I should just do a bit of judicious additions of chimes and jingly bits here and there. :)

karmathanever(Pete)

I have gotten my Christmas songs all put to bed for my show, thanks to you Pete. In my opinion, the average player could not duplicate these.
