Korg 4X Style Can't Play for Older Model
Why Korg 4X Styles Can't Play for Older Model as Pa3X, pa900 Or Pa600,Pa3XLE....
I want to buy a Pa4X but since the styles are not compatible with others that make me think about it.
Can we have any solution? Or can Korg needs to improve the iOS?
Thanks

Pa4x compatibility
Result:BR wrote:This is what they say about the Korg Pa4x's compatibility in their website:
Compatibility
"i-Series" models: Styles
Pa-Series models: Styles, Performances, Programs/Sounds, Songs, SongBook Entries, Pads
If you own a Pa4x you can use Styles, Programs / Sounds, Songs, SongBook Entries, pads and performances of all Pa models and styles of the I-Series because Pa4x is compatible with previous Pa-generation.
If you own a predecessor you can not use the data of Pa4x because previous Pa-generation is not compatible with new Pa4x.
kind regards

Re: Pa4x compatibility
Too bad and super Ugly, That's why I don't want Pa4X because I can't not share my custom styles with others who has older Pasiebenhirter wrote:Result:BR wrote:This is what they say about the Korg Pa4x's compatibility in their website:

Korg must take this as a serious matter...Let's see if there are 10 people don't want to upgrade to Korg Pa4X because they can't share their Pa4X Styles with their friends who had the previous models so the match is : 10 x $4000.00(USD) each = 40,000 USD lost in the income.Giner wrote:So Korg should make all their new developments available to those with previous models?
Er, Business 101 for you, kiddo.
PS: In the other countries they don't use Korg Manufacture Styles, Most is their custom made styles
I am the owner of Pa3X for longtime, I looking for to upgrade but since Pa4X style is not comparable with older model that make me disappointeddimitris wrote:Congan2,
There are many PA3Xs still in market, why don't you buy one? This way you can share your styles with others, even with PA4X users!!
Thanks
Congan2, that sounds very strange! Why is it you're not disappointed with the PA3x then? If that's how you want to put it, you should be disappointed with every single model ever released. Can you load a PA3x style into a Pa2x, or a PA 800? Can you load a PA2x style into a PA1x?....You make it sound like this is a new thing, but it's NOT.congan2 wrote:I am the owner of Pa3X for longtime, I looking for to upgrade but since Pa4X style is not comparable with older model that make me disappointeddimitris wrote:Congan2,

Many companies have the same exact policy...even in the software world. Like you can open an older session with Sibelius 8 but you can't open a Sibelius 8 session with an older version.
All my friends owned Pa300, Pa600,Pa900,Pa3XLE, So when I made a styles I can share with them, or sale to them...We all happy, They don't have budge for Pa4X, So if I change to Pa4X I don't have that opportunity anymore.Sam CA wrote:Congan2, that sounds very strange! So nothing is strange when your community and friends are using Pa300, Pa600,Pa900,Pa3XLE and want to share styles with each others.
Thanks
If that's your priority, then of course it is strange. You're trying to buy the wrong tool that can NOT satisfy your needs. Again, it's always been like this.congan2 wrote: So nothing is strange when your community and friends are using Pa300, Pa600,Pa900,Pa3XLE and want to share styles with each others.

Simple solution: You keep your current Keyboard and do whatever it is you do, till your community moves up to the next level...then you upgrade! Or you keep the current keyboard and buy a PA4x, especially if you're a commercial developer.

Korg Italy could do the same with PA, what is done with Kronos.
We've had Original Kronos, KronosX, Kronos2 out now.
When an OS update comes out for the latest Kronos2, it is compatible with KronosX and the original Kronos. So, a Kronos1 or KronosX user can get the benefits of Kronos2 release.
At the minimum, new PA4X styles should be available for loading into PA3x, etc.
PA4x supports PA3x, PA2x, etc styles..so..the code runs those style formats. A simple OS patch release for PA3x with that same code could make it compatible.
This shouldn't be this hard and should be in line with Kronos methodology.
But unfortunately, can't even get PA3x and Kronos talking to each other..LOL..ones has SPDIF coaxial and the other SPDIF digital. (PA4x has no SPDIF output..which is even worse).
Korg Italy and Korg Japan/US do not talk to each other too much it seems.
Korg as a company should atleast try to have some harmony between their own equipment. We're not talking third party interfaces, etc.

Sorry, don't agree at all - why? If Korg did this then basically they might as well forget the 4X and just continue to update the 3X???
You use the Kronos as an analogy - well I have the KK1 and I can tell you I would replace it with the KK2 if I had the $$$ - there are many reasons
Korg PA4X can play i2/i3/i30/pa80/pa1x/pa2x/pa3x,Musikant,Dopamine and more styles - reckon that's enough.
If you are enjoying instant style sharing and compatibility of PA900/3x/3xle etc with friends then do not go to the PA4X generation.
When some want OS changes they often use the word "simple" when the word should be "complex".EnSoNiQuEs wrote:A simple OS patch release for PA3x with that same code could make it compatible.
Changing anything in an OS (for any computer-related operating system) requires planning, design, development, testing, integration testing and user-acceptance testing.
A change to an OS commonly requires the entire OS to be completely re QA'd before release.
OS changes are NOT necessarily simple - occasionally the code changes may be straight forward but the rest of it takes time and costs money.
Cheers
