Can you provide specifications of your mp3?byme88 wrote:Yes it play on any devices such as PC, iTune etc... except the Tyros 5.
Strange thing is if recorded by the PA3x, I have no problem play the recorded MP3 files on the T5!!!!!
Perhaps Paolo can check this out and help us!
Thanks!

I don't know exactly they details for the MP3 recorded on PA4x, but here is the link to the my shared Dropbox! Perhaps you can take a look and help out?
I know bit rate is: 32 Kbps
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Codec: MP3
Thanks!

This MP3 file is odd - it plays for 4:50 but the file info says it's 35:33 long!!???????
Try creating a very short "test" MP3 on PA4X and see what happens (say 30 seconds).
If it plays on everything except the T5 then I am thinking it could possibly be a restriction on the T5
BUT this file is weird....
Cheers

BTW I had a look of this Mp3 file and found the following issues :
- File Metadata look like corrupted in some audio editors
- It's 32 Kbps CBR and T4 reads from 64–320 kbps CBR
- Audio amplitude (gain) is over +2 db than nominal audio file standards and leads to a little harmonic
distortion and audio data loss in maximum amplitude of audio data.
(Analysis was made by latest Adobe Audition CC)
Also I don't understand the meaning of using 32 bit floating bit Depth and 48Khz sample Rate in such a
low resolution of 32 Kbps CBR format of this MP3 file when at least 128 kbps CBR settings should have been used !
Try using normal/preset MP3 format of recording settings that Pa4X might have !
If you can't find a solution to this , then import this Mp3 into an audio editor (eg free Audacity) and export it
with 128 Kbps CBR settings !

Why would you want to use a bit rate as low as 32 kbs, everything under 128 kbps is clearly audible as an mp3..byme88 wrote:I don't know exactly they details for the MP3 recorded on PA4x, but here is the link to the my shared Dropbox! Perhaps you can take a look and help out?

I just checked. My T5 indicates mp3 bit rates 64 a 320 kbps, which shows why it does not work on Yamaha.. Its obvious Yamaha set 64 as the bare minimum to prevent the T5 from really sounding bad.. Even 64 kbps is barely acceptable.
I have already reported that, my post from Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:10 pm :karmathanever wrote:This MP3 file is odd - it plays for 4:50 but the file info says it's 35:33 long!!???????

Hi,
Pa4x records MP3 songs as variable rate files. This may confuse some audio editors (including, as it seems, the one in the Tyros). I would send a request to Yamaha to fix this issue.

Paolo,
What puzzled me is why on the PA3x the MP3 recorder offered choices of fixed Bit Rates which resulting with no problem playing the recorded files on other MP3 Editors or Devices, but now changed and NOT offer with the PA4x?
I will send a request to Yamaha to ask if they can fix this issue, but I am not sure if I could do this to every 3rd parties MP3 editor to request if some of these editors not work as with Yamaha.
Can this be fixed by KORG in next OS update? Or at least bring back this feature from the PA3x?
Thanks,

byme88,
As far as I know, we never offered fixed bit rate compression. We licensed the compression algorhythms from the Fraunhofer Institute years ago, and then adapted them to the various software implementations in our instruments. Our MP3 compression is a standard one, so it should work on a very wide number of devices.
Try shortening the name of the MP3 file (maybe a single word, to be sure). Sometimes, it seems the Tyros needs shorter names to correctly recognize files.
