creating a bass for a combi

Post by pilotman »

How do I make my own user bass line and put it in a combi. Do I use a sample and turn it into a program in a KSC file

Not sure what you want - do you want to sample a bass guitar that you have? If not, there are plenty of basses in the Kronos. You can go through the category search, in KARMA, and select BASS PATTERNS. To make your own notes, you could use wavesequencing. Or you can copy your Combi to song mode and make your own pattern, then assign it to a key (RPPR).

just using the kronos Mike. no guitar. I am only interested in a live performance. Can't seem to find what I want with the preset karma bass patterns. So if I copy the combi, to sequencer mode, with the RPPR box checked I can record my bass. is that right. I would like to place the song in setlist mode and add to the song using different slots. Is that the right way, I have tried placing a song in set list, straight from the sequencer but could'nt get it to play.

Pilotman: In RPPR you can't play yourself - it would be great if we could trigger RPPR patterns in a combi but Krono's can't do that. In RPPR mode you can only trigger patterns :(

Simplest thing is buying the Karma software: that lets you input any midi melody, and turn it into a new Karma GE. You'll find the software @ karma-labs. Prepare for a learning curve if you go that route!

Sampling is an option too, but then you're stuck on the BPM of that sample.

Pressing ENTER + REC/WRITE simultaneously, he can copy any combi he wants to a song and use RPPR. He can assign that song to the Setlist and play it like a combi.

He can sequence a bass line (whatever he wants), then enter Pattern mode and select the GET FROM MIDI TRACK function to assign to a pattern. From there, he assigns the pattern to as many keys as he wants. Using the SHIFT function (next to each note assignment, he can play any note of the bass line and be at the right pitch.

Sampling is an option too, but then you're stuck on the BPM of that sample.
Using RPPR, wavesequencing or even an in voice step sequencer, the bass will sync to any BPM.

I have some repetitive bass lines that I would like to play with a custom Combi. It has 12 parts + Karma.

Karma is my drummer, has 5 scenes, and I need to advance thru the 5 scenes and also mute another bass part. No problem, there.

Karma does not have this repetitive bass in its GE list. I am not ready to spend the time to buy Karma software and learn it for this purpose.

The only solution seems to be record my repetive bass line(s) in the sequencer , assign it as a RPPR, and tag it to a key to activate or play the bass line. And I will need to copy this custom combi into the sequencer .

Then establish custom combi 1 ( without the repetitive bass line) and sequencer song 1 (with the repetitive bass line + original combi )
in Set List.

Seems like an awkward solution and I wanted opinions if I was planning this out accurately.

Thanks
