Best device to record chords and trigger them

Post by wreth »

Hi,

I have Korg M50 and I just love to use chord trigger buttons when playing. I usually record background chords to them and since I'm new synth player, the chord trigger buttons support my performance very well.

The problem with these buttons is, that you can record only 4 chords to them, so now I'm looking device which would be able to store much more chords.

My only requirement is, that I can plug this device straight to my M50 and I will be able to record sounds which I play on keyboard to this device and later playback them. This device needs to work without computer.

I use word device, because I'm beginner and I don't really know what I need. Do I need sampler or some kind of pad system? Any recommendations?

All kind of help is appreciated :)

Well if you prefer pads, and chords that way you are steering away from playing the keyboard, and more towards Ableton Live. You therefore might be better off trying Ableton Live, and buying a Pad to go with it.

Something like this has pads, and half a keyboard which is basically what you are doing now...

Based on specs on the Korg website, the Korg Taktile range allows chords to be entered and played back using velocity sensitive touch pads.

Connection is direct to the M50 using a MIDI cable.

The Korg TRITON Taktile comes with the legendary Triton synth built in, albeit with limitations, opening up further possibilities.

As an example, the TRITON Taktile 49 has 8 pads x 2 banks = 16 chords per scene (16 scenes total), giving plenty of scope. The manual confusingly labels the MIDI port as MIDI In, which is not much use, and says nothing about user chord assignment, although the Korg website specifications indicate user entered chords are possible.
