Long time Korg fan

Post by EFM-7 »

Greetings, here is my intro:

My first childhood memories of enjoying music were the sweet sounds of Kitaro's Minikorg-700s.

In my teens, I started writing dance music. My first synth was the original Electribe-A as that was all I could afford at the time. Didn't satisfy my analog cravings, but I used to quite extensively which is more than I can say for some of the later synths that have fallen into my hands.

As I got more involved in the 'rave' music scene, I picked up some gems like the Mono/Poly, Polysix, also borrowed an EX-8000 and Poly-800 from some friends. Ultimately, and unfortunately, I fell out of music and the only Korg synth I had remaining was the Microkorg (I bought it the week it was first available, now it seems like they're so common that they're being referenced in hipster jokes)

Fast forward another 10 years and here I am; I'm now a 30 year old geezer. Currently I have an SP-250 digital piano, and recently picked up a KingKorg - man... VAs have come a long way since my original electribe! I love how this synth doesn't scream "LET'S MAKE SOME TRANCE!!" like every other VA.. A lot of classy sounds for all styles.

Although I never make a conscious decision to buy Korg gear, I always end up with it. So I've come to accept that I'm a Korg guy :)

PS... I miss my Mono/Poly :(
