Is there any way to allow my Kronos to be connected to two computers at once via USB... not for the audio functionality... but if I want the Kronos to be a usb midi device for more that one machine at a time..
I've read about a usb switch, but unless I'm wrong, it seems like you can only use it on one computer at a time.. just have to push the "switch" to determine which computer is accessing it at a time.
any ideas or suggestions .

if all you're using is MIDI, it's easy. Just use USB for one computer and get a USB MIDI adapter and use the MIDI cables for the other. You can probably find one for less than $30.
Another option (albeit more expensive) is to use something like an iConnectivity device. My iConnectMIDI4+ can take USB MIDI devices (like the Kronos) and share them between up to 3 hardwired hosts (mac, PC, iOS) via USB and up to 7 more via ethernet.

I have been looking hard at the iconnectmidi4+ and that seemed like the best option.... But I'd never considered just going the simple route and getting a usb to midi adapter/interface....jeebustrain wrote:if all you're using is MIDI, it's easy. That would be crazy simple... The funny thing is that I already have 1.... It's the Motu fastlane 2x2. This may be perfect for me. I'll post back tomorrow. The only immediate issue I see would be that the motif XF can only operate in EITHER usb-midi mode OR traditional-midi mode at any given time one or the other but not both... But there is one way to "forward" data from one of the motifs usbports to the midi out.... I think.

The iConnectivity devices are really cool, especially if you use an iPad. I use mine in a live situation. It works really well and eliminates me from having to use thru boxes and mergers between all my gear (I carry waay too much stuff onstage).apex wrote:I have been looking hard at the iconnectmidi4+ and that seemed like the best option....
