Other way round and upside down

Getting to know my up till now neglected Kronos

When I create a combo, if i add an a track with karma after having set a couple of pads or whatever underneath, then everything is fine.
Bt if i put the karma track in first and then add a pad - the pad won't sound or is routed into the Karma

Ive tried reverse engineering. I figure its a routing problem t don't know exactly what. How do i get the pad to sound normally without Karma?
Help much appreciated and sorry if this has been answered 1000 times before
