Based on server traffic, it looks like the package is a huge success.

Looks like I will end up with a download time of ~ 11 hours!

I'm really waiting for someone to tell me that they've got the new Berlin Piano and don't know how they could have managed without it before. I guess either nobody has been able to successfully download the package yet, or they are just so enthralled by it that they can't get to the computer to let us know.

I would love to hear a real side by side comparison of the (Berlin piano) against the (German grands) we have now. I have heard the Berlin but how much better is it? If any of you get the new Berlin and are willing to show why it is worth the investment that would be greatly appreciated. I am surprised KORG hasn't done this yet.

Ok, the download was completed after 11 hours here, and half an hour ago I had the opportunity to install the libraries and go through the first patches of KRS07: piano patches, mainly for the new Berlin, but some for the Japanes Grand as well (which I have uninstalled, so I changed the patches to Austrian/Boesendorfer).

The Berlin Grand: I installed it completely and just love it! It became clear to me within ten minutes, that this will be my definite go-to grand piano for ~80-% of the piano sounds which I use in the Kronos, from now on.

I will leave it to others to post side by side comparisons. I can just decribe what I hear after half an hour of playing around with the piano patches:
- sonically the Berlin/Bechstein is in between the Kronos German Grand and the Boesendorfer
- it sounds extremely flexible with different settings (bright, dark, layered, compressed etc.), sounding good with all variations
- you can play it more expressive than any other IMHO
- it cuts through the mix in a very elegant way (not as hard as the rocking Boesendorfer, but very clear cut and defined).
- it simply seems to shine in any band context, from trio jazz to crowded band instrument contexts: you just hear it, without being obtrusive.

For someone who plays only classic or ballad stuff solo piano, the softer German Grand may still be an equivalent or even better option, but from my view really only for that purpose. Everywhere else the Berlin rules IMHO. I should add that these first impressions are from home studio use, not with loud band speakers. I will have to check loud band level next week.

And whoosh, I'm back to hearing, testing, and loading those KRS 07 sounds which I want on my Kronos.

I don't get it - I just purchased this and the only active link was for KRS07.zip EX17 and EX19 were not linked. I went to the 'my kronos' page and, although Ex17 and Ex19 are shown as bought, again there is no link to download them.

I've also had no confirmation email from Korg.

I've downloaded previous EX's and not had this problem, although searching my email, I'm not sure I've ever received a confirmation of my purchase. What do I do to get my download?

EDIT: I'm guessing I download the demo and register that? Can't recall doing that before but it's a while ago and I am getting more senile every day!

You got it. Downloads are available for everyone, they just run as demo until you purchase them at which point you get the activation key.

So those few of us that only wanted the signature sounds are out of luck ?.I play in cover bands and those sounds would've been very usefull.I was really really hoping for something similar to the 80s Pop/Rock Volume II Voice Bank deal that other company offers....Maybe they'll change the options to buy just the sounds later .One can only hope.

If you're not familiar with my Famous Synth Sounds, check them out. They're free. Many 80s pop/rock songs included. Korg licensed these for use in their keyboards and many of the Programs are in KRS-07. KRS-07 includes new Programs for sure, but there are also Programs in the free Famous Synth Sounds that didn't make it into KRS-07.

Okay, so to make sure, there are sounds that DIDN'T make it to this free version, that are in the paid KRS07 sound pack right? I was looking for specific sounds that were demo'd but aren't in this pack, so I can only assume they're in another pack that is paid for.

Just wanted to make sure though!

It's both. Busch made this collection a while ago and Korg licensed them for use in KRS07, but not all the free sounds made it to the KRS. They did put other sounds in there (like the entire sample based set).
