If you are looking for a free quality piano for your Pa3x/Pa900/Pa600 then read on.
After a lot of tweaking I think I have a set that will please the piano players out there.
All credit to Antony Sharmman for these sounds. Antony offered a free Steinway set as a gift a few months back. All I have done is change the way they are delivered as you play. Here are the latest changes I have incorporated:
1. Filtering is now based on Velocity of the note over the whole 127 range (Filter Modulation by Velocity). Previously there were 6 discreet filtering levels. What this means is that there is complete tonal expression over the whole range of playable velocities. This compares to the factory Grand Piano RX which only has 4 levels of filtering. What this means in practice is that there is now a very smooth transition in tone from very soft to very hard playing. Some discreet filtering has been reintroduced for pp and ff tonal expression.
2. I have reinstated Antony's very clever idea of having a very slight tonal release sound to emulate the dampers coming back to the strings. This is very realistic in that the speed you release the note will determine this sound (it is audible if you turn the volume up high as you release the note). This is different to key off noises that are non tonal/pitched. Key Off noises have been retained as well. Honestly in a busy mix you will not notice some of these effects but it somehow feels more satisfying knowing we haven't compromised by leaving them out.
3. I have disabled the joystick X pitch bend and ribbon for these piano sounds . (How annoying is it if you happen to bump the joystick or your kid moves it while you are playing – it really spoils a performance!).
All the RX sounds (Resonance, Pedal On and Off) which are obtained from the factory multisamples are still there. The Steinway consists of 15mb PCM sounds with two sets of stereo multisamples at mf and ff levels.

Unzip it (on Windows PC right click and choose Open with...Windows Explorer).
After backing up your Pa (Save All), Copy the .set folder to a USB Stick, choose Load. (Loading will put 8 Steinway Piano variations in the first 8 User Sound positions – alternatively you can choose Open, Sound, Open, User1, Open and choose individual sounds instead and then choose where you would like to load them).

wow, can't wait to try~!
after loaded the sound, i realized that the playing skill is depending on the sound quality itself in a way

Revised September 4, 2014 - Improved expression for loud velocities by adding 2 extra oscillators EQ'd and filtered a little more for velocities 105-127 for all 8 piano versions.
Fixed Imperfect Steinway which was supposed to be detuned very slightly. Some pedal noises have been reduced slightly.
Probably will be the last update for some time.

I was already delighted with the previous one(s), but it is nice to explore the subtle changes and find that there is more to the piano than just a hammer on a snare.
(I'm into organs, so lots to learn)
