Neat little Kronos accessory I found over the weekend

Post by jeebustrain »

I'm always looking to streamline my (rather complex) setup. I used to carry around a little floor fan to gigs in case I needed something to move air around. I happened to be at Home Depot this weekend and ran across this USB powered mini-fan totally by accident. It folds up really tiny and can go just about anywhere. And it's also small enough to fit in the lower tier of my setup. 2 speeds and moves just enough air. I think it was like $8.

Here is the whole setup, including my custom-built pedalboard that wraps around my Ultimate Apex stand.

Hey: For those outdoor, hot muggy/buggy nights, this might just help keep those nasty bugs from climbing into the slots and all over my screen on my Kronos. Good find. Now, how to keep it from flying off my 61 kronos? Sometimes, more often than not, some of the stages we play is like being on a trampoline.

you could just get some small bits of velcro tape to lock it down. There's enough surface area on the bottom for that. It's not a super powerful fan, just big and fast enough to move a little air.

I'm curious what stand you are using for the iPad? BTW I have one of those fans that I use on my PC.

it's a regular mic stand but with a HyperPad, made by Ultimate Support. There is a little gooseneck that screws into the top of the stand. It's really neat. I managed to find an open box one at Best Buy for like $15.

Great idea. I'm always sweaty after setting up my rig in a hurry.

I'm curios about your pedal board. Who makes it?
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

Me! I took a 3/8" sheet of oak plywood, cut out a notch on the front with my tablesaw, mounted a lower rail on the front/back side (to let it sit over the stand legs) and "upholstered" it with some dense black rubbery shelf liner. It fits perfectly in a Gator pedalboard bag I found. The entire thing cost me about $11 to make. I routed all the cables together and used some 1/2" automotive conduit to make a single cable run from it that I can snake up the stand. All the cables are secured with screw-downs. the loose wire you see is from the Burn pedal, which I haven't gotten around to running thru the conduit.

I like it especially because my set-up times for my pedals went from like 3-4 minutes to like 20 seconds.
