Filter MIDI out for Note-On messages only

Post by pkpiano »

I would like to send ONLY "note-on" and "MIDI channel" data from the midi output of my Korg M50. Is it possible to filter out all other data, or do I need to buy a MIDI solutions router to filter it all out?

I am trying to control a light show using the MIDI output of my M50 and a Chauvet Obey 40. The M50 is sending additional data that seems to be confusing the Chauvet Obey 40.

You could try the MIDI filters in combi mode. It probably won't filter enough but it's worth a try. The MIDI Routing tab in Global mode might also be worth looking at.

Filter timecode

Just wanted to post an update. I downloaded midi bridge for the ipad and put an event filter to ignore the time code info. The Chauvet Obey 40 is now responding nicely to midi control from the m50

I forgot about the time codes. Yeah, an iPad with midi bridge can do wonders. Some time back my M3 and the midi time code events that it sends non stop made me crazy. It still does. I used a filter on my MOTU Midi express to kill them.
