I can't understand why so much negativity. It seems that this new app is the only one with true two-way communication with your pa Songbook. Is there any other app out there that allows you to select your song from your tablet?
One thing for sure is that we won't see any new apps or improvements if no one buys it.
My tablet is android so no use to me yet but I think I probably would give the android version a try if it becomes available.
I think tablet integration is quite a step up for Korg. Good on you Korg!

Songbook-Editor for Remote an Pdf-Sync
Hallo Sam,Assyrianpianist wrote: Korg does NOT think so! Because from what I see, they're not talking about any other app. So it seems, as of now this app is the only one that's compatible with Songbook.
it does not matter if Korg does not think any application ist compatible with its Songbook.
It only depends on properties of mididevices (iOS, Android, Windows, any brand of midicontroller etc) to be able sending NRPNs. Since more than ten years you can remote your songbook with midievents (NRPN MSB/LSB, Data MSB/LSB: Bc 63 02 + Bc 62 40 + Bc 06 mm + Bc 26 ll, where c=channel, mm+ll = songbookentry).
Examples (hex) for remote-control via sysexs (channel x0f):
f0 42 7f 60 bf 63 02 bf 62 40 bf 06 00 bf 26 01 f7 -- > Songbook-Entry 1
f0 42 7f 60 bf 63 02 bf 62 40 bf 06 00 bf 26 03 f7 -- > Songbook-Entry 3
f0 42 7f 60 bf 63 02 bf 62 40 bf 06 63 bf 26 0a f7 -- > Songbook-Entry 9910
Best results you even get with simply using Windows-onboard-tools and freeware (Irfanview, PdfViewer, Scripts) to enable sync Songbook-Remote on Control-Channel and Two-Page-Pdf-Viewing of Scores/Lyrics with monitors of PC/Laptop/Notebook or larger monitors than these of tiny small tablets.

If Korg wants to improve something, then best to extend their own software songbook editor, so that the NRPN automatically is sent to output via midi synced with a short script (to start Pdf-Viewing) when selecting an sb-entry!
Extra songbook software (with duplicate administrative expenses) is not necessary, because Korg songbook editor includes selection criteria for a quick access - and is always up-to-date because synced with Pa-Songbook.

I think tablet integration is quite a step for tablets to realize midi-traffic (simply send and receive midi-events).Reuben wrote: I think tablet integration is quite a step up for Korg.
Korg should disclose his secret sysexs and its MIDI-implementation.

Actually it does matter a lot! The whole point is they made this update announcement for "tablet connectivity" on their website for a while. Clearly, Korg meant for it to be a "new update", something that wasn't available before. What I'm trying to say is that Korg has released this "update" with a very specific app.siebenhirter wrote:

I've been using advanced midi configurations for at least 20 plus years, so trust me I know what you're talking about.
My question is, if this is just a universal common send/receive midi set up, why is it that Korg made this announcement in a form of a very specific app? After all there's many android/Apple apps that can work with the same standard midi set ups.
It's like if I say hey people now you can import a whole style from an external sequencer by holding the shift down, however to create that style you MUST buy a $10000 Pro Tools HD setup (Mac only)!!! But there shouldn't be a need for me to say that, because creating a style in an external sequencer is just a standard midi procedure and everybody can simply choose whatever DAW at whatever price they want. Regardless of what DAW or computer you use, you will end up with a midi file.
So again, my question is....why people have to buy this app, if they can just use any other app???
