Korg PA and tablet announcement

it is too bad that this all hype is about songbook... It could be better that Korg implement a deeper integration with tablets and for FREE ... Now we have Songbook integration and we have to pay 50$ for full usage ( another story is that in my country (and other small ones) we couldn't buy apps from App Store) ... All that things about songbook is not worth that much . My 2 cents. Cheers.
It can't be free for sure. Though in your case even if they sold it for 1 cent, you still wouldn't be able to buy it, so it wouldn't matter what the price is.Vex wrote:it is too bad that this all hype is about songbook... I wonder if there's another way of selling this app through authorized dealers in countries that don't have access to the app store?
Keep in mind that whoever risks developing these kind of apps only deals with a very very small number of buyers. This is not your common GPS app. This is a very specific app for a very specific purpose and for a very specific user. How many people own PA keyboards/use songbook/ know how to read chord charts/music score/need lyrics...etc and last but not least, how many people who fit the category can or even want to buy the app? I can tell you for sure, not too many people. That alone drives up the price for any product. Someone has to get paid for doing the work, right?

Until previous OS's all PA series was just receiving control messages from tablet. With the new OS PA3X and PA900 can also send control messages to tablet.

Everyone I know use Songbook!!
I asked a question which was I wonder how many use the song book because nobody I know uses it. I'm not saying that NOBODY in the world uses it, I'm saying nobody I know here uses it and that's also not just some random comment. Every Pa3X user in the south of Ireland has probably had me do custom work for them, so I'd have a pretty good idea of how most people in the south of Ireland are running their Pa3X. (bearing in mind Ireland is only 350 miles long)
There's a very good reason for them not to use it too "in their opinion". There's no clear direction on the Pa3X one should take for performing. You actually have 3 options which always confuses the heck out of most here when you try explain it to them.
Option 1: The Song Book.
We have the Song Book, which is a button you have to press and a list you have to scroll though, and then select your song, followed by a screen press. Now try doing all that while people are in front of you dancing and your in a hurry to get to the next song. There's simply no time and you cannot afford to stop the beat. Even if you had time it's so slow compared to the method people here actually use.
Option 2: Performances.
This is a very handy mode, but it confuses people because the performances are all named after instruments and not performances. People get confuses here between using performances to select sounds and the traditional way of simply touching the name of the sounds from the main display.
Option 3: Simply selecting a style.
Favourites and Users can be selected in realtime while the beat is still running and your instantly ready to play the next song. Sounds too are recalled (STS1 being the default) No stopping, no fumbling though song book lists. It's super direct and super quick.
It's just how it is here.
Even if you used Backing Tracks here (Midi/ Mp3) you would find it hard to find repeat bookings. Pubs owners know the difference now here and they won't pay a live band to play backing tracks. Live means live here.
Regards
Sharp.
The same way we use it here, especially in parts that we play non-stop traditional music.
But, in the beggining and near the end of a gig the songbook comes handy because we play songs of every kind and we use many different kind of styles, too!
Regards,
Dimitris

Hi.
You can use music binder https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/music-b ... 30102?mt=8 or unrealbook https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/unrealb ... 35173?mt=8. Which are cheaper
.....
Those apps are 10 and more times cheaper than songbook+ and works excellent with all PA series
.....
Or you can work with Onsong https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onsong/id502344938?mt=8 ...
Can't understand for what all this discussion
.... For songbook ? ..... Doesn't worth !!!

in fact when the news appeared, i did not have confidence about the app. I haven't know any one in my area using songbook function. Korg's songbook is not more less convenient than Yamaha's registration has become a common sense in there. on the other hand, the price....is too ridiculous, do u think we are all millionaires??

Are you sure all these apps that you listed are compatible with SONGBOOK?Lika wrote:

Korg does NOT think so! Because from what I see, they're not talking about any other app. So it seems, as of now this app is the only one that's compatible with Songbook.
