Mono Lead Sounds

Post by Tommy592014 »

Hi,
Last month I bought M50 keyboard. It's a very nice station and there are a lot of very nice and powerful lead synths (Bank D) but they are all strictly mono: I'd like to play them in poly rather then mono, is there a way to edit them to change them from mono to poly? Thank you for your help! Best Regards! Tom :D

Yes, this should be possible. If your dont want to lose the original program, just copy it to a empty slot in Bank-E. Then go into the edit mode. Go to P1 - Basic Controls->Voice Assign mode. There you can change Mono to Poly, and also go into sub-options like Poly legato etc.

+ 1 to Dimitra.

You can go the other way as well to make mono (one voice) basses and leads from comping (poly) synth sounds.

If leads are your thing you may also want to explore using different waves (samples) in the matrix of an existing lead voice. All of the performance parameters are already written for you; you just go to the basic OSC page and try other samples where OSC-1 is.

IFX like detune can also make lead sounds more "analog-y", as can detuning OSC-2 to a 4th, 5th or 7th (as well as the more obvious octave).

OK that's great!!
I'm so pleased that it's possible to change sounds from Mono to Poly and the other way as well.
Thank you to Dimitra and Billbaker! You explained very well! :D
