Several months ago I was able to pick up a used M50-61 for around $150. After playing with it I noticed the only thing wrong was an area in the center of the touch panel about 2 in wide that was "off" and could not be fixed by calibration. I proceeded to read every post on the subject and came to the conclusion that the problem was the "digitizer" touch panel (a relatively inexpensive part) that is glued to the top of the actual LCD display.
Since my father taught me that something isn't broke until it's in 100 pieces I decided to fix it myself. (I actually called several Korg service centers but they didn't seem to understand my problem beyond "bring it in we'll take a look).
I started googling and ended up finding the digitizer part at AliExpress

Several things amazed me, #1 It took 5 days to get this part from China #2 It was only $50
I won't detail my tear-down and rebuild process but I successfully changed out the digitizer and my Korg works perfectly.
Here are a couple things I learned:
You do have to disassemble 90% of the board to get at the screen HINT: start with all the screws on the bottom.
The hardest part was seperating the old digitizer glass from the top of the screen. It's glued down mighty strong. I used a razor blade to carefully seperate the old digitizer panel but you do have to pry and slice a little. I ended up destroying the original digitizer in the process of removal so be sure you have a replacement ready. I used small dabs of Gorilla glue around the frame to secure the new digitizer, and put things back together.
The first time I reassembled everything I found that my M50 wouldn't sit flat on the counter and was a bit 'twisted'. I undid the bottom screws again and was more careful while tightening everything up and now everythings flat again.
Thanks to all the great posts in this forum for helping me find a relatively simple fix. If you are doing a tear-down and have a question let me know happy to share what I experienced. Also, I have a spare digitizer (i bought 2) if your screen is wacky let me know and I'd be happy to send you my spare.
Cheers,
Andy

replaced my digitizer
I bought a new digitizer and it still wont function or calibrate. Do you suppose I needed the entire display piece? Where could I get that these days?
