No new Yamaha workstation or synth so far???

I guess to each their own, but I still love my Motif XF
Had a Kronos for awhile, but really couldn't get into it. Of course, there are holes in the Motif sound library that are present on the Kronos, esp the FM pianos. But by the time the Kronos came out, I had enough patches from 3rd party libraries (for which the Motif has tons) to make up for it. And some of them are even free, like the DynoPiano sample from the Korg O series.

I think yamaha might used fake online accounts to vote for SOS megazine in order to make his motif xf to be " the keyboard of the year" I just do not belive that tha this pece of joke can worth anything. It was so bad even when they introduced it, and i am not even speaking how joke it is now.Timo wrote:Err, it was the readers who voted. Furthermore, you clearly do not know nor have ever heard of Sound On Sound, so your insinuations are ridiculous.chilly7 wrote:i do not trust thouse fake awards anymore.Timo wrote:Well, it seems the Motif XF has just been disclosed as the 2014 Sound-On-Sound winner for best keyboard/synthesizer (as voted by readers). I wonder what placement the Kronos was.

I will not be supprised if yamaha bribed this magazine for this award or yamaha used a dirty trick with hackers to creat many fake virtual user accounts in the internet in order to vote for their own motif xf...
It is clear that Kronos is miles better then motif xf, but there are even better solutions then Kronos..

good is good....jimknopf wrote:Well, then you can only ask what's wrong with the readers of SOS.
The Motif XF is no bad keyboard, but "synth of the year for a stone old Motif with extra Flash RAM"? Nice joke...

There is only one thing in the Motif thats not out of date, and that is its studio integration, this is where Korg really needs to get their stuff together..
But as a keyboard Kronos outshines the Motif in every other way...

This video shows how awesome the inegration between Cubase and a Motif works.... But also on other sequencers.
I think Korg couls learn a lot from this... Having a piece of software that allows the Kronos to function both as a VST or as a VST host, or as a fully integrated PC Mastercontrolller would be great..
I beleive this is the reason many people still stick with Motif..

I think most Motif players by far use it on stage, not in the studio.
And on the development side it seems to me they were very well supported on the software end, since they own Steinberg/Cubase.
I'm not sure Korg will ever get that far with their software editors, at least for the Kronos. Not that I mind, I still wouldn't use it.

That Yamaha video shows what I was expecting from the Kronos when it was originally announced WITH an editor for easier recording.
What happened was
- extreme delay for any editor at all
- no advanced VSTi functionality as expected when it finally appeared
- no 64bit support, which just means it's even more useless for most of the musicians with a DAW
This is one of the very few really weak points in the Kronos concept. And I would definitely enjoy better DAW integration, like most of the users probably would. A strong argument for Yamaha workstations, besides a higher level of average patch programming than that ion the Kronos.
I still prefer the Kronos by two classes, but that has other reasons.
Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5
You don't even need Cubase for that either:Bachus wrote:http://youtu.be/j-U0a_bkJ2A

This takes a lot of the frustration out of initially getting around the Motif, and I love being able to move around 'child' voices of performances, and have the performances they point to automagically update. Not sure if the Kronos can do that or not
