I have installed the latest drivers, still not working.

Could someone tell me please what happens when you connect your Kronos to your PC.
Do you get a Korg driver window come up?
It is really frustrating that some people have problems and others don't .
Any help would be gratefully received.

I have used my comp., my wife's comp., my Kronos 61 and my Kronos 88, and I still have not had any success. I have the latest drivers and I have followed he instructions to the t. One laptop gives me the error message "Midi out port is not exist: Kronos". My wifes laptop says "Midi out port is not exist: Kronos Sound 1". I'm running windows 7 SPK1 on both computers.

I to have one of my computers that work and one that doesn't for some reason. I don't know why my laptop doesn't want to work. I get the same kind of the error although my Kronos does appear in the audio devices. It just doesn't appears a midi device let me know what you find out. I had to use a different computer to do my update

I tried changing midi ports like you did, but I don't have any choices other than Kronos sound 1. For a while, all it said was Kronos. Now, my only choice for midi out ports is Tascam US144 - Midi, since I tried that also. Seems like the issue is with my laptop (mine and my wife's). I'll keep trying, I guess.

it is stated in the upgrade documentation indeed that the Midi drivers needs to be version 1.12 or newer for the upgrade to work. So you need to update the driver first

Hello All.

This is my first entry in the Kronos forum so bear whit me, I have now owned my kronos for 1½ years so I am not new to this forum.

As I can see aim not the only one that has problems whit the
firmware update, I have fiddled whit this for 3 days and possible found a solutions you definitely shut try, if you can’t get windows to detect the kronos usb connectivity, use the “UnInstDrv.exe” in the “KORG USB-MIDI Driver” folder, her you shut delete all entries off kronos, afterwards
You the connect kronos again (in update mode) and follow the normal installation procedure for the driver, wend in the update window select config and now you shut bye able to select kronos.

All this workt for me and if you also have problems whit the Kronos editor this will properly also solve that problem..

Update:
Well, I have tried the firmware upgrade with three different laptops now, two of them running Win7 and the other one running Vista. I have also tried on two Kronos, 61 and 88. No dice. I keep getting the error message "Midi port not exist: Kronos sound 1". Maybe my son's Mac, when he comes home.

If the firmware update is important? Can anyone explain why ? What does it fix? What other things is Korg changing that is not talked about? Closing hacking options?

This question keeps getting asked and it is all in the release notes.

I just updated the firmware -- successfully in the second attempt. The first attempt failed with the often cited error message »All bases are belong to us...« -- errrh -- »Midi out port is not exist: KRONOS...«

In my case, the reason was that the initial installation of the KORG USB driver that was automatically triggered by Windows after I had connected the Kronos failed -- although Windows claimed a successful installation. Only after I had installed the KORG USB driver by manually launching the provided installer program from the extracted driver ZIP file was the driver correctly installed.

And then the firmware update proceeded without a hitch within a few seconds.
