How to set Program to SW2

Post by relicanth001 »

Hi, I am a beginner at keyboards. How do I set a program so that when I press the second button the program plays as normal, but when I turn the SW2 button off, the program won't play (so nothing will be played if you press the keys).

Thanks

-add an effect called Graphic Eq or smthng close.
-make all the freq values to minimum level.
-make dry/wet 0
-dry/wet Amt sw2, and 100
-go to the controller and check the sw2 to match the amt

dont have the m50 now so i dnt know the accurate names of each entry.

Why exactly do you want to do this? Just trying to understand, perhaps there is an even better solution.

Thanks for the reply. Raffi, I tried adding the effect you stated but there is no way to set AMT to SW2. That didn't work.

I just want a string combi with 2 string programs.

So basically I can have 1 string program in a combi playing without the second string program, and then I can press button 2 and the second string patch will enable that is an octave higher so I have an octave effect by just pressing 1 key.

if all you are trying to do is create an octave effect you can assign one of the switches to the Octave Up function. P1:Controllers.

I think you are wanting to mute one timbre with the SW buttons.

There is no mute setting, unfortunately. You have to assign the SW button to a parameter that will cut the volume. One way is to send the timbre to a compressor and then use the SW to drop the volume.

OK. let me reformulate what i said in the beginning.

.Add an effect called graphic EQ (preferably InsertFX)
.In that effect, put all the bands (1 to 7) to the minimal value (-18 )
.Change the Wet/Dry value to max (wet) and
.Assign the Src to SW2:#81 and the Amt to the lowest value (-100)
.Go to the controllers page (P1). and assign the SW2 to: SW2 mod (CC#81)
.Go to your effect map and assign the timbers to that effect.

All sounds passing through the Graphic EQ, will be muted. Press SW2 to activate them.

All sounds not passing throungh the Graphic EQ, will be audible, and the SW2 won't affect them.

Inbox me if there is still confusion. I will gladly help.

Cheers

It's mucht easier than all that.
Try the daydreampiano for example. When you hit one of the switches the chimesound turns off.
That is a setting in the osc section where you select the sounds of a patch.
There you can assign the sw1 or sw2 button to play the sound or not.

There are several strings patches where the upper octave can be enabled / disabled.

Yea its a gd idea too.
But if you re working in Combi, its easier to program the effect than to create a Prog.
I use that because i often assign the effect to the Knob. can control the volume

Interesting post.
Let's say I'm in combi mode playing piano, and I want to add some string sound just by pushing the SW 1 or SW 2 button....is this possible? Hoy can I program that combi?
Thank you!

Abbreviated and compiled from the posts above:
1 Use in program: You can change the program and change the VCA of the string depending on SW2.
OR
2 Use in combi: Use an EQ effect and route the string to it, coupling the wet/dry effect to SW2.

Advantage of 1: Does not use an FX slot and every combi using that program is affected.
Advantage of 2: Program is not affected, only combi.
