hi every1 ,2morrow i am gonna SELL MY M50.its been quite a journey all along with it,for this 2years or so.seemed like a struggle to get certain things programmed at times with too much of options/parameters.learned a lot of korg's way of doing things.although flexibility is the watchword of this machine but eventually proved no big deal for keybrd enthusiast like me....been way too complicated a method in programming sounds at times........thinking of getting some inexpnsive yamaha stuff...........................................looking forward to visit this forum once in awhile ...but not frequently as it once used to be.....
some of the reasons that led me to give away m50 are :
piano ,strings, pads, drums are good.but found ac guitars, flutes and brass are dull and lustureless in this machine(practically devoid of any articulation whatsoever...no guitar slide....no brass swells) .and tone cut off in combi mode alongwith inability to playback midi files properly were some of the many things that i did find frustrating.....xg and gs incompatibility made midi files sound horrible on this machine....certain midi files sounded so good on roland ,yamaha but became non sense when played back on korg.....and one last thing korg should consider allowing usb pendrive playability.these days cheap keybrds playback mp3 contained in pendrives.......
keybed seemed to have a less travel....no sync start in seq mode....certain combis appeared sort of gibberish....made no sense to me at all...sounds lack acoustic smell and are too much artificial or synth like,so got bored sooner or later with the m50
.....
however i found the x/y joystick and fx routing very appealing to me which i will definitely miss
hoping to get korg in future if i find something wothwhile, but not now.as a matter of fact i dont look forward to colorful touchscreen as in krome which doesnot have SST despite having colored touchscrn!!!!
love the days when we had n364 ....those were really simple machines....but nomore....kronos is way beyond my affordibility...honestly.....waiting eagerly for korg to develop some easy and good sounding machines for enthusiast like me.
selling my m 50 tomorrow

Sorry the M50 did not work for you.
I don't think the Kronos or any Korg workstation will be the right thing for you, since most have even more features (and complicated) than the M50.
I'm afraid you haven't tested it well enough for buying, because most items you dislike could quite easily be checked in a store.

How long do you take to 'test' in-store

I'm still 'discovering' little things on my M50 and I've had it for three years!
The only way you truly discover everything is by reading the manual from cover to cover many times over................or is that just me

Iit depends ... my first Korg synth (Korg X5) take me a year, reading manual etc. But I tested it for 2 or 3 times several hours.Krog wrote:Really !!!michelkeijzers wrote: I'm afraid you haven't tested it well enough for buying, because most items you dislike could quite easily be checked in a store.

The latest: Korg Kronos I tested it for about 3 hours in a shop. However, I read parts of the manual, participated with a lot of discussions and maybe what was the most learningful: I created the first screens of PCG Tools without having the Kronos ... but it was a good opportunity to both create the program and learn the Kronos.
On the other hand, I never read the parameter guide fully so there are lots of areas I know nothing about, but I would not use them anyway, like most parts of the sequencer.

Well, the switching between combis and browsing through sounds is one thing you can do at a store....piano ,strings, pads, drums are good.but found ac guitars, flutes and brass are dull and lustureless in this machine(practically devoid of any articulation whatsoever...no guitar slide....no brass swells) .and tone cut off in combi mode alongwith inability to playback midi files properly...
Brass swells is something you might edit yourself. But okay, it is not the easyest machine to program...
But, good luck on your search for something else!

Good luck trying to find an easier to program workstation than the M50. Once you get over the learning curve, things tend to become second nature. Agree regarding the articulation and midi files, though.
