Kronos AU PLUGIN keeps failing validation - ***SOLVED***

Post by apex »

It is looking for a Kronos that is updated to 1.6... my Kronos is of course WAY past that...

anyone know how I can get rid of this message or update the plug. I may have completely missed something...

I've updated my editor to version 2... is there a chance that the plugin would not have updated too?

First question, what did you do to cause the K to need re-validation?

For example did you install a new disk, or run the format/re-install from the factory restore dvd's?

no it's just the first time that I've ran this program since then... and it ran the re-validation process for all my new plugs.

That sounds like the cause Apex (plugin version either didn't get updated, or you are picking the wrong one from your VST menu).

I'm not picking one at all... you know how logic looks for and new plugins at each startup... that's basically what's happening.

How do I uninstall the old version?

That message is telling you that the computer cannot detect the Kronos. Do you have the Kronos connected via USB and powered on? If so, I would check the connections, and Check in System Profiler(or System Report if you have Lion or Mountain Lion) to make sure the computer is seeing the usb connection. Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info (for the Lions, then click System Report). Click USB on the left side, and see if your Kronos is listed under one of the USB connections.

No the message is saying that it doesnt see a kronos connected with os version 1.6 on it. I know for a fact that the usb connection is being recognized.

Well, that is actually a generic error message saying that the plugin cannot load because it cannot detect a kronos. I would make sure you have the latest USB driver from Korg. I get the same error message when I start logic without the Kronos connected. The reason it is specifying 1.6, is that is the version of the Kronos os that is required to use the plugin.

Ok. I will check... but if I didn't have the correct driver wouldn't I have problems getting the Kronos to work at all via USB? it controls VST, etc... with no problem at all using that same USB connection (INSIDE OF LOGIC)

Also make sure you have not exceeded the max number of midi ports on Windows...max is 10, less for earlier versions...

Remembering if you run an nVidia GPU it will take 4 midi slots by itself with their so called "high definition audio". Totally unnecessary.

You can check by looking at control panel -device manager-sound video and game controllers.

The Korg midi driver cam be installed and working and seen in the Korg MIDI config tools, but if it is exceeding that limit...it will not run. This is probably NOT the case here, but worth mentioning anyway I thought :)

:D I know!!! If I did not have so much tied up in Windows software , games and VST data I would be using a Mac for sure....but it would cost way to much to change over :(

The version 2 editor installs separately, and does not delete the version 1 editor. Make sure you're choosing the correct version of the editor.

ok. How do I uninstall the version1 editor? and what do you mean "choosing"? I'm not choosing either. I guess it goes through all of them on each start-up. And then validates the new ones.

The AU plugin is located in /Library/Audio/Pug-ins/Components/ The current plugin will be named Korg Kronos v2.component . If you have another Korg Kronos component in there, delete that one.
