How to edit a voice so the volume of each note is the same?

Post by Still in M0ti0n »

I would like to edit a voice so that there is no difference in the volume whether I play the keys hard or soft. Does anybody know how to do this? I'm guessing that when I find the correct screen to make this edit there will also be an option to set the desired constant volume of the notes (1-127), is this correct? Thanks for the help!

Global options - turn velocity sensitivity all the way down (or off if it's an option).

Or Global Velocity number 5,seems to be the loudest constant setting, depending on which voice (sound program) being used.

Best Wishes.

You may also be able to do this, depending on the synth engine you're using. Some of them allow you to use velocity as a modulation for volume of the synth engine... otherwilse, you may apply the Global modification explained on earlier posts.

The Global setting would affect everything he played. It sounds like he's just trying to do this with a single timbre in a combi, without affecting the other timbres in the same way. That's if I'm interpreting this correctly.

Within a combi under the "MIDI Filter/Velocity" tab, is a "Velocity Zones" tab. There you can set the top and bottom velocity ranges for each timbre individually.

I agree.

I don't think this is what the OP needs. With this setting, you're restricting when the Timbre will sound, instead of making sure the Timbre always sounds, at the same volume.

If OP needs to do this for single Programs, then the specific method will depend on the synth engine used...

If it's an HD-1 program goto:

AMP/EQ==>AMP1 Mod.==>VELOCITY INTENSITY and set it to 0.

If the program has two OSCs, do the same to OSC2.

I thought this allowed you to set the velocity min/max settings, so it always played the velocity within that window, regardless of how hard you strike the keys. Is it actually setting it so it will only sound, when the velocity at which you strike the keys falls within that window?

Correct, I'm trying to make sure it always plays at the same volume no matter how hard I hit the keys. I am going to be using this on a lead synth, probably a saw. I am also trying to do this in sequencer mode. Is that possible or do I have to go into program mode first to change the setting?

In Sequencer mode:

1) Press the TRACK EDIT tab. Select the MIDI track with your sound already recorded.

2) Press the Dropdown Menu and select MODIFY VELOCITY. There is a Velocity Start value and a Velocity End value. Make those two values the same number.

Ya that work's after its recorded, but what I need to do is actully change the sound settings before I record so I can hear it all at a constant volume while playing.

Which synth engine are you using for the saw lead sound?

You'll find the name of the EXi in Play tab, Main Subtab. There's a grey bar with the text "EXi1: ..."
